When is the Nintendo Wii going to be here in Korea?
I'm hoping to buy one for use in Korea rather than a Japanese imported one.
The Nintendo Korea website just keeps blabbing about the stupid DS handheld. Anyone heard anything on the Wii release date for Korea? |

| i'm no expert on this but i am guessing the reason you won't be seeing any wii's here is the same reason that it took so long for the PS3 to come out here. Piracy. The companies don't make money by selling consoles, that make money from selling games. So few koreans buy the games that there is little incentive for console companies to sell here. |

Damn. I was hoping to pick one up in the next few months, but would like to buy one made for the Korean market. Guess it makes sense from Nintendo's POV to hold off, but sucks for the rest of us who want to try something different in a console.
Graphics don't do it for me anymore. I want to try that cool motion-controller for the Wii games. Who gives a sh*t about the difference between Tekken on the PS2 or the PS3? I gotta have a new gimmick!
This youtube vid for the Wii pretty much sold me:

They've been delaying it a lot. Supposedly, problems with adequate production and Korean localization have set them back a lot.
IMHO they're hesitant because of the incredible amount of piracy going on with the R4 cards for the DS. I'd be surprised if they have even sold one game per DS in this country. |

I agree. South Korea did not get PS2 for YEARS after the Jap release. My first one was a Jap model that "fell off a boat" in Inchon.
I want to check out a Wii too. I couldn't find a place to let me have a try because they are not supposed to be here yet. I too want the Kr. version. |

| Nintendo realized the Wii will not be successful in Korea because kids can't take them to class, adults can't play it on the subway/bus. |

And the fact that they are just plain boring.
Played on my nephews one for a few hours and none of the games he had had much depth to them. Just crappy implementations of the Wii controller. |

boring is a bit much
i just bought a wii and although still im still in the novelty faze i could never condemn it as such.
its not really a console for in-depth games though... ive got a lard ass pc for that.
Wii is just king for multi player madness. It has a touch of novelty about it, in some ways its a console for people who dont really play games. Girls like it.... and it has a few good single player titles.
good fun. |
