It's a japanese maple. About 40 cm tall and wide. The trunk is 3 cm in diameter, and maybe 10 years old. It is in great health and the buds are swollen and about to open up!!! I got it a year ago and it was so thick that the inner branches were suffocating. I cut out about 30-50% last year and the same or more needs to be done soon. It could be repotted this year if you wanted to change the pot, but should do fine until next year. I'm willing to give it to the right person, but would sell it to anyone for the right price.

I live in jecheon, 45 minutes SE of wonju and 2 hours from seoul.

These photos are before I thinned it out last spring.

That's why its probably best as foreigners to move it across the country before the leaves develop. I walked across town with some basil plants and every korean and their mom wondering what the hell I was doing and asking me what kind of plant it was.

That reminds me, I have some seeds to throw in as well. maybe 4 types of basil, radish, mustard, mizuna, lettuce, and more. And I cold stratified a few chestnuts I found in the hopes they would germinate this spring.

The pics are really fun.

They make the tree look massive.

That's the point of bonsai, to make a miniature tree look like their full sized counter parts.

It is an outdoor tree and needs cold in the winter and partial shade in the summer.

To me, its like giving away a pet. I would prefer to give it to the person who is going to take care of it, not to someone who will turn around and give it away, even if it's for your wife. Sorry diggler. I am hoping to find someone as passionate about trees and plants as I am, but I am litterally crazy about trees. They talk to me, but without saying anything.

faster is not as crazy as I am, but makes a good case for providing a stable home.
