I made a special tirp to itaewon (and me got drunken, so typos be dmmed) just to go to smokies. When we got there, it was packed, andd there were three or four ppl lined up to get in. shitty luck. We were hungry, so we went to the Wolfhound - tried and true. If it weren't for the crappy processed cheese slice, it woule be the best burger - SO FAR - I've had here in Korea. When I get to Smokey's I'll post an update. Geckos makes a damned fine blackened chicken burger, but I'm not sure how that fits into this conversation...
BTW: The best - THE BEST!!!!! - burger I've ever had, anywhere:
If you ever get to Koh Samui, find a pub called Tropical Murphy's. That burger kicks @$$ on any other burger, bar none. Trust me on this. |

Has anyone pulled off the ultimate miracle in the ROK: made their own hamburger?
Damn I miss the ability to easily buy ground beef in a grocery store and access to a decent outdoor bbq. I'd be a little wary of cooking too much outdoors in this air. |

Of course. The bad side is that Phillie's and Wolfhound's have both gone with an herby burger, just like I make. Wolfhound's used to have that slightly spicy one, which was the shit, so I'll have to start making spicy ones.
I have yet to try the 3 Alleys burger, and won't bother with the puddle that is Smokey Saloon fare, but all of the other places that do burgers out there are middle-of-the-road at best. Thunder Burger takes the Hunk of Fecal Matter award. |

| I make great burgers at home these days, but I've been to Smokies. It's pretty good. |

The burger at Ruby Tuesday was alright going down, but I was begging for mercy about an hour later.
The good thing about Ruby Tuesday is they have a 20% waygook discount... It's great to be a foreigner! |

Did your food even get cooked the way you wanted it to be cooked?
I got some nasty P.M.s in 2006 about my support of Ruby Tuesdays in Seodaemoon-Gu. Most of the memos stated that the burgers at R.T. were RAW!
Darn!!

I'm the guy who, in Fall, 2006, encouraged people to visit the place.
Sorry for making you and/or anybody else feel crappy...
Respectfully,

Wolfhound seems the best burger in Seoul to me: a decent bun meets good tomato meets sauteed onions meet one's hungry mouth.
What was it in 2006 - something like 8 bucks?
Nice!

Scratch the burger idea, I think I just lost my appetite. Thanks for the warning though. Ramyeon anyone? |

The one at Dal in the Science-Administrative Building had a wicked nice lady who ran the place just right in the '90's. She was kind and very generous to everybody as far as I could tell back then.
The one on Spring Garden Road (across the street from The Lord Nelson Hotel and about 50 metres up the way from the K.F.C. on Spring Garden and Something or Other) had a Swiss Chicken joint connected to it. Both were outstanding in my honest opinion given that both were ostensibly "fast food" places.
God, how many posters who know Hali know these places, too, LOL?!
Most Harvey's I've been to in Montreal, Laval-area, Greater Halifax, and in Ch'Town were quite, quite decent, and I used to wish that somebody in New England would get around to opening one and scare away the McDonald's and Burger King places.
Harvey's is a Sure Thing for anybody who knows that he or she could eventually make good money by operating such a very good franchise built upon an extremely good business idea.
F'ing right!
Edit: Sorry, I was tinking of Harvey's.

sampled the wolfhound burger on sat.,pretty good for korea...9000w
downside:processd plastic cheeze on top,too sweet bun.
upside: great potato mega chunky fries, many dressings avalable on the bar, meat not bad(again in korean context)
my greatest burger of all time was at the bluewater grill ,new york, circa 2000.i guess 3 times the size of wolfhounds, excellent bread, ground beef, flamed on real fire grill, thick cut real cheese etc etc etc ... |

I quite like Thunder Burger hamburgers. Their fries, fresh cut, are good also.
Kraze Burger is good too, but as someone else said, expensive.
I haven't had a hamburger anywhere else in Korea than those two places. |
