Car For Sale - 2002, 4WD, Diesel Turbo-Charged Sportage. Gets GREAT mileage (about 35 MPG) and is very comfortable. 121,100 km
Original Owners!
We wanted to take it back to the US but, since it's diesel, we cannot, as the diesel version was not sold there. Korean value is a little over 5 million won but we are asking W4,500,000. (Original price W17,000,000)

What exactly does that mean that "the diesel version was not sold there?" Is there some sort of restriction on an export of it that does not allow it to go to a country that does not sell that certain model? |

It simply means that Kia didn't sell a diesel model Sportage in the US.
I believe all 4WDs in Korea are diesel.
Had we decided to take the car to the US, if any work had to ever be done to it, we would have had to send off to Korea for parts. |

| I think the main problem would be that that model had not been passed by the EPA and the DOT. You would be spending big bucks to "Federalize" it. |

| ALL exports to the US have to have US approved emission controls...that is a given - but not the reason we didn't take it back. |
