I went to the Korean Consulate in Canada for an E-2 visa interview the other day, and I didn't made a good impression on the interview since I was having a bad day, so he denied me the E-2 visa. Then my recruiter in Korea said that they cannot deny me the visa if I have no criminal on my record, and that I should threaten to sue them. The consulate didn't also give me a reason on why I failed the interview, they just said that I failed the interview, and they said that go ahead and sue them if I want. They also said my visa denial is noted on record and i cannot apply for another E-2 visa ever again.

Does anyone know a way to appeal this? Is it possible to sue them with a lawyer? Can they also ban me from ever getting a tourist visa too?
I know i'm being a bitch, but I wouldn't pass up a chance to *beep* with korea.

That just flat out sucks. Let me guess, it was the embassy in Toronto. There is a woman there on a severe ego trip, with no clue of what she is doing. I have gotten in multiple arguments with her. Try to find out why. If you have more issues, email Mr. Choi from the ministry of Justice here in Korea: [email protected] Also try Mrs. Kim from the Canadian embassy here in Seoul. [email protected] Explain to them your problem. Maybe they can help.

Take a trip up tp Ottawa and try there. i heard they aren't as tightassed as that biatch in Toronto.

The new Prez of Korea is very English happy. He wants Korea to be fluent in english. If a bunch of people from Toroto were to let his people know that some biatch with a powertrip wasn't letting future teachers into his perfect english country...he might do something about it.

to the original OP,

what questions were you asked? how did you answer them?

your recruiter said they couldn't deny you a visa cuz you didn't have a criminal record? did your recruiter say this was the standard screening procedure for all applicants?

I would like to know as I am going to go for another interview sometime in March, hopefully, and I have a small misdemeanor on my record.

The only girl I talked to was some young lady with short hair, kinda cute, she works the visa office at the consulate. She seemed pretty nice to me but when I gave her my photos for processing, I'm pretty sure she said something condescending in Korean about me to her co-worker, and she was also pointing at my photo. Maybe, it was a good comment...

so was it the girl, I was talking about, or someone else that interviewed you? I figure I can work the old charm on the younger lady that works there but if its someone older then I am in a pile of sh*it...each time I have gone there, the traffic is unbearable and theres no parking...and by the time I get there, Im in a sh*itty mood...f'in Toronto...

i didn't go to the toronto consulate, and the interviewer is a different person than the secretary. i think you'll be ok if you're enthusiastic, which i weren't...

I hate to be the one to point this out, but perhaps your denial has something to do with your grasp of English grammar, or lack thereof. I usually don't like it when people make comments such as the one I just made, but seriously dude, you shouldn't be teaching English.

of course the main reason i want to be there (and most people too) is not to teach english, it's to pick up girls, party, and eat ssamgyupssal. that's why i'm planning on getting a tourist visa instead.

Is this last reply written in cynical annoyance? or have you perhaps been genuinely refused a visa because of mental instability and behavior issues at the interview?
If you are genuine you are doing your best to lose any sympathy vote and instead have the many ' decent' teachers in Korea be thrilled you were refused.
