|
|
In the West some people say men shouldn't cry. Indeed some men are afraid to show their emotions or just keep them hidden. On the other hand, some people say it is good for men to show their emotions. How about in Korea? (I'm thinking about at times other than when someone has died)
Generally, do Korean men cry?
Have you ever witnessed a Korean man cry? What was the reason?
How is it perceived by other Korean men and by Korean women?
How is it perceived by you? |

Just yesterday I saw three Korean men cry.
We had a little ceremony at my school because two teachers are retiring. The principal, vice-principal and a third grade teacher were crying.
In August, when my old vice-principal had to leave to go to a new school, both he and the principal cried when giving speeches.
I expect when my principal retires at the end of the month, I'll see a lot more crying.
It isn't looked upon badly here to cry, I don't think. |

Like most everything else, crying is actually a recent hot trend in Korea right now. How many Korean movies, TV dramas, commercials, etc., do you need to watch in order to figure that out. It's a phony and unrealistic "I'm sensitive" front for the bullcrap machoism that is what these guys are actually all about.
So...
Yes. Korean men (on TV) cry.
Yes. (On TV & movies) I have seen Korean men cry. The reason was the incredibly unique and creative scenario of the "love triangle" and/or "love interest being ill."
It's perceived as being "sensitive." B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T.!
I perceive it as being another incredibly aspect/trend in the Korean entertainment industry.
Have a nice day! |

I've had my shoulder cried on by at least a dozen different guys.
Usually it was when we were out drinking on weekends, and they were telling me about their miserable marriages. |

I'm very sensitive, don't really cry that often but often feel like letting out a tear or two. It's perfectly fine. Don't be such a stick in the mud. Even men in the stone age cried. You might find it'll increase your clarity and perception. |

Real men don't cry, so no Korean men don't cry.
The burning of the gate was the closest i've seen a Korean man cry and even then he fought back the tears. |

Korean men's tears could cure cancer. Too bad they never cry. |

There's a saying in Korea about men and crying,
"A man only cries three times in his life. First when he's born, second when his parents pass away, and third when his country is ruined."
Having said that, I think a lot of men cry from time to time. I haven't cried in a long time though. I really envy people who can tear up by listening to a good song. |

I always cry watching Love story, cry listening to the song 'Those were the days' cry watching some soppy family reunion at the end of the show 'suprise suprise' (with cilla black) cried when Frank Bruno won his world title on his fourth attempt and gave his speech about 'not being an uncle tom' cried when my mum and my dad both graduated from university at the age of 56 and 72 respectively.
I'm a real man... what constitutes one of those anyway? |

You've admitted to crying so i guess you're not in the group. |

According to your narrow nonsensical parameters maybe.
I had 55 bouts as an amateur heavyweight/super heavyweight boxer where the Peruvian federation invited me to box for them so I guess I would constitute a real man in most peoples eyes.
I never cried in the ring though. |
