Just a random utterance from my ignorant, racist coteacher this morning.
An hour later I had a returning student from England. I asked her 'what did you miss most about Korea' and she said 'the bread'.
Thoughts? |

What does this have to do with coffee and foreigners? I don't get it. |

Um...I guess the assumption is that coffee is from another country (where foreigners live) and that...you know...places like Starbucks and all the other coffee brands are from...foreign places...ah forget it it's too complicated to explain. |

If she thinks mix coffee = real coffee, her remark sort of makes sense. |

I went to Zen hair salon the other day. When they asked me what I wanted to drink and I replied, "Coffee," they took the time to ask me how I wanted it: with or without sugar, with milk or with cream or black, hot or iced? Yet when they brought out the 'coffee,' it was undoubtedly Maxim Mocha Gold coffee stick.
shtick, more like. |

The coffee can be quite good in Taiwan. I drank Luwak coffee there. Good clean stuff. |

Yeah, that's ridiculous. Sometimes I think Koreans just enjoy hearing themselves talk. Funny, because I had a Korean friend once condescendingly explain to me "the beauty of silencee" that is an aesthetic virtue in some Asian paintings we were looking at, and that foreigners can't understand.
I've been told that "foreigners don't like to travel."
I've also been told that Korean waitresses are better than foreign ones because Koreans don't have to write down the orders on a piece of paper. |
