|
|
I was just wondering if anyone experimented on getting a fax directly to a computer, instead of a simple print out directly from the line.
I got a fax close to the computer but i am guessing there is no interface to pick up the signal and send a digital version to my comp.
Anyone? |

We used to do it years ago - it was called a FAX/modem.
Most/many laptops still have modem capability (software required) but most desktops do not. |

There also used to be websites that would do it for you, normally for a small fee
upload the docs and the number and they fax it away. |

My printer is also a fax and I can send directly from any document on my computer. I tried it out once and got a notice that the receiving fax was only in B&W so my document was grayscaled.
don't know about receiving and having it routed to the computer - I would imagine it's possible. |

sending is not the issue.
receiving it is .
maybe what i am looking for is some kind of interface between computer and telephone line.
When call comes in, my computer can make a telephone sound, and i got a device connected to the computer to "talk with"
When a fax comes in, my computer stores the fax into a digital file.
Can double as an answering machine maybe? |

I'm registered at efax.com, although I haven't really needed to use it yet.
Always on the look out for a cheap printer/scanner. |
