Hey, I was wondering if anyone here knows how much korean car insurance is. I have a motorcycle and that's not too expensive, maybe 120,000 a year I think. My Korean co - teacher said car insurance is alot more and that I might have to pay something like 700,000. I haven't actually bought a car but have been playing with the idea. Any information would be appreciated, such as which companies might give a better deal. Will any companies recognize the 15 or so years I drove and had insurance in Canada to get a lower rate, or will I pay out the butt as a first timer here. Can I get one policy for both my bike and a car? etc. I read somewhere there are some foreign companies operating in Korea too, I wonder if Royal Bank Insurance which I used in Canada could insure a korean driver and if I might get a better rate.

I have a 92 Kia Pride (don't make fun, it still works) and I paid 430,000 for last year and 360,000 this year. This is only liability, obviously.

Mine was like 450,000. I am a little older but it was my first year driving here. Got it this year and it dropped by 30,000. Call AIG and ask. They were great and speak English too.

I have a sm5 2006, My insurance is about 650,000 give or take. It does go down each year which is nice. I'm with AIG as well. The speak English well and have no problems dealing with foreigners. You may find some companies unwilling to help you, but it's their lose.

Yes, I tried some Korean companies but they wanted like a MILLION won a year and that is just crazy at my age and with the low value of my car. Korean companies try to give you the waygook surcharge.

I paid around 450,000 for a year for only liability as well. Full coverage was going to be about 400,000 more.
