I have been trying to get a job here in Korea at a nice hogwan that I found by walking around, and doing my homework.
I just got out of a bad GnB hogwan in Suwon (very bad school), and the owner of the former hogwan has made it impossible to get a job here, but that was 2 months ago.

I looked at this new hogwan, and investigated it, and did some research and I like it. The owner put my documentation into Immigration, and immigration will not issue an E-2 visa, stating a report that the last hogwan made against me, which was totally false.

The owner and I pleaded with the head of Incheon immigration to approve the E-2 visa, but would not. He would not tell me how long I had to be out of Korea before I can come back to work.

Any one have any ideas on how to get around this, without going out and getting a new Passport.

How far into your contract were you? Did you complete 12 months? What sort of claims are they making about you? Sounds a bit odd Confused

I was into the contract 5 months, and the owner terminated me. I went on vacation for 15 days and came back to get another job. But Immigration told my employeer that I could not hold the contract and could not work. I informed immigration, that I was terminated, and that no "Letter of Release" was issued, and when I asked for one from the employeer, they refused.

I just left my job under pissy circumstances and was pretty concerned my boss had immigration at his office working his theoretical talents to get me tossed. Not sure what was going on there, but SUPPOSEDLY he will issue my release letter to me tomorrow when I move out of the apartment. I am curious whether he'll have me "banned" in some other way that the LOR is useless. It's a pathetic system, starting with the people who operate and coerce it ... (screw the dangling participle)

I too had problems with Incheon immigration, those mother fuckers would not issue another visa despite HAVING a letter of release. Apparently my old boss called them later claiming I forged said document and pulled a runner.

Those jackoffs at Incheon can eat shit and die for all I care. What did eventually work was a bribe from my current employer. I paid for my own visa run to Japan in exchange for my school sliding those fuckers 500k under the table.

Unless you're willing to do some shady shit, or you're Canadian and can get your 6 month tourist visa you really are fucked. They have a stick shoved so far up their asses you can pick apples out of their freakin mouths those lousy bums.

Without a letter of release from your original E2 visa sponsor, there is little anyone can do Sad and until this silly requirement is changed, I don't believe conditions in hagwons will not improve.

Without your letter of release, you'll find it difficult to get another job in Korea until the time your original E2 visa would have expired.

You could try sending an email to EFL-Law to see how they can help with your situation. They are a free service for poor schmucks like us and can provide you with good advice. See what EFL-Law can do for you.

Edit: Check out the EFL-Law FAQ section.

I agree with you. This week I have to go back to the U.S. for 4 months until this E-2 visa is expired. I contacted the recruiter, about the situation about not getting a letter of release. He just told me, it was my problem and had to deal with it. But I will be back in Feb. or March.
