What are some good ideas to get everyone talking? Anyone know of any good games?

A couple of weeks ago I posted a thing about sexual abuse at my school. Perhaps you don't want to be caught playing Game Sin in the classroom. I don't really know what Game Sin is, but I don't think I want to know, either. |

Games don't work with adults.
What you need to do is find a topic they all find interesting.
Love, money, work, travel, family etc ...
It is not easy, but i found out that the simpler the subject, the more talkative the grown ups are, cause its easy to have an opinion on an easy subject, and makes expressing easier.
Don't go for political sensitive stuff though ... |

I've used games a few times. I just try and think of a drinking game I know, and then adapt it to that setting...it works well.
But the best way to get adult students to talk is the same as with all adults...ask them questions about themselves and pretend you give a shi'ite about their answers. |

My teacher's classes and mother's classes have appreciated games. I've used the Crazy sentence game and daily activities go Fish. |

Scattergories, pictionary, taboo....not the greatest for sparking conversation but all my adults classes have loved playing these. The good buzz they get from the games always sets a positive and free atmosphere for the rest of the lesson.
You don't need any materials either, just some preparation. |

Cheapass Games has an amazing assortment of games suitable for most ages. None are focused on education but gaming requires language use and thats where I am aiming. I don't really care what the content is as long as the Ss are talking.
Cheapass Games are also a crapload of fun if you and some friends just want to kill some time. Generally takes about 5 - 10 minutes to learn the rules and anywhere from 1 minute to 1 hour to play a game. And as the company name implies most games are in the $2 - $8 range.
Their website also has quite a few games avaliable for free. |

We're talking about Korea here....they're shy enough trying to 'speak' English, let alone speak English while they're naked. |
