A year ago, this new office was pretty quiet. Now, a 3 hour wait is standard. I waited around 2 hours on Monday, but came back today thinking it would be less busy. I was wrong.

There is now a way to schedule a time to meet at immigration. It's on the immigration website. I would suggest you do that, or end up waiting half of a day at the office.

It was pretty funny, because some Korean guy went ape$hit today and started slamming a book down on one of the clerk's desks. Everyone in the office went silent as he exploded. He was screaming in Korean, "This is Korea! I'm Korean! Why do I have to wait for all of these foreigners?!?"

What an ass!

After seeing that display, an older Korean woman with an American passport starting yelling, "Bally! Bally! This is the last day!" and other things in a mix of Korean and English -- she thought doing the same might get her some headway.

I was beginning to wonder if the immigration office was on the verge of losing control.

There were so many Chinese and so many people from Mongolia, Japan, etc., waiting in there. Maybe 10% were non-Asians. I remember in times past, the numbers usually included more white faces, but not anymore. Some of those western-looking people were probably Russian, too.

Now they're talking about "opening the floodgates" to let more SE asians into Korea. If they do that, they'd better open some more immigration offices before some angry Korean chops off his finger in protest.

If you plan to go, then reserve your time!

Luckily, I have to report to Dong Incheon immigration. They have now separated it into Chinese and Non-Chinese. Last time I went, the Non-Chinese side had a 5 minute wait and the Chinese side was at least an hour.

I also get to use the Dong Incheon office. I like it there. Never had a problem, and they've always helped. My wife called to make sure I had the correct forms to renew my F2 and when I got there, the woman at the counter remembered talking to my wife and I was in and out in 5 minutes.

I learned to make reservation several years ago. Went last week to submit my application for my F5 visa. Made an appointment at 3:00 walked in the office at 2:55, waited about 10 minutes jumped in front of maybe 60 people (the office was standing room only). The looks on everyone's faces as I walked right to the front of the line was priceless. Several people started complaining to the immigration officer and pointing at us. One person even came to the officer helping us, interrupted us and demanded to know why we were being helped when they had been waiting for an hour and a half. The immigration officer told them to sit down and wait their turn, we had a reservation.

Was you have your ARC card always make a reservation. It makes the process painless.
