|
|
I apologize if this has been answered countless times, but with 41 pages of posts and different responses across the board, i thought I'd ask again. I'm looking for a definitive answer.
My contract expires in February. I'd like to teach in Korea another year (starting in June), but before I do, I will be traveling SE Asia for about 2 months and go back to the US for a month.
My E2 visa expires on May 8. I will be returning from my Asian travels around then. I really don't want to go through the nightmare of the new E2 application process when I go home.
So, if I sign a new contract in May, before my current visa expires, can I avoid some of the headache of applying for a new visa when I'm home?
The scenarios I'm considering are re-signing at my current academy or finding a new job before May 8. Does that matter?
Or, if I sign a contract at a new academy after my current visa expires, does that mean I have to start the new E2 process from the beginning when I get home?
Thank you for any answers you can give. |

Any application after March 15th will have to follow the new rules, besides the interview if you have taught here previously. |

So does that mean that if my current employer submits the paperwork by March 15, I can get a new E2 visa without having to go through the new process, even though my current visa doesn't expire till May 8th?
And if so, would my new visa begin once processed or at the completion of my current visa?
THANKS! |

If your current employer extends your contract you can extend your visa for 1 additional year from it's current expiry date.
You can do the extension up to 60 days PRIOR to your current ARC expiry date.
Extensions done BEFORE March 15 are a simple matter of application, fee, new contract, arc, passport, business registration and sponsorship form.
After March 15 you get to jump through ALL the hoops. |
