well, my 3rd year students are graduating today from MS, and i think i've just been uninvited to the ceremony Shocked

one of my best students this morning saw me in the hall and told me she was getting an award at the ceremony and would like it if i was there. co-teacher comes in later and tells me there's no need to come, i say i want to, she says why, i say so-and-so is getting an award and wants me there, she says ok, but leave after she gets the award.

WTF korea?!

and then my school has the nerve to wonder why i'm not renewing. they can go f* themselves.

...and use the servants entrance around back. oh, yes, you can eat in the kitchen.

go to the ceremony if you wanna go. leave when you want to leave. this country is as free as you want it to be. they won't taser you in front of the kids. fighting!

I think they want to make it look like they were the ones that helped your student achieve the award. This is not about them; its good to see you will show up for your student.

Yesterday they served lunch earlier than normal. No one told me about it and so I ended up missing lunch. Korea sparkling Very Happy

I'm currently chilling in my office while the ceremony is happening. No one bothered to tell me where it is, made a half-assed attempt to find it but no dice...nice.

They expected me to come to our graduation ceremony yesterday. And then they expected me to go out to lunch for a couple of hours and drink soju. I do my best to be a team player and do whatever is expected of me. That seems to keep things going smoothly around here.

I started to go into the gym this morning for the closing ceremony when I saw my handler going in there too. She said I didn't need to go to that ceremony, so I didn't. In an hour we get to leave for the day.

This morning I asked my handler to inquire if I could not come in for the next 2 weeks while the students are on break. Naturally, I gave her some plausible reasons about other things that I need to do during that time period so it wouldn't just sound like I didn't want to be there. We'll see. Very Happy Laughing Very Happy

I posted a thread about open resentment yesterday, but it was deleted, maybe because it was a bit too frank.

But some of the open resentment public school teachers show here is pathetic, you can see some like to jump around in order to try and impress 'somebody', and because I refuse to do so, they perceive that to be rude. Wow!

pkang0202 - I also have those benefits, I work at a public school. But I must confess when I am on my own, I prefer it to when I am with my lovely colleagues.

the ceremony just finished...only an hour, that's really short! very cool seeing 400+ students bowing in unison Very Happy

yeah, as other posters mentioned, i normally wouldn't have gone and wouldn't have cared, but the fact that one my best students (and one of my favourites) asked me to is what made me decide to go. my student has had a rough year with her family life and i couldn't just not go, regardless of what my co-teacher tells me.

I wasn't asked to go to the graduation or the closing ceremony...and they're letting me leave early....30 more minutes till I'm outta here...for the weekened, that is.

Honestly tho, this sitting at the desk for 3 1/2 hours a day stuff is boring as heck.
