To receive severance pay, one must work for at least a year. Right? Considering that an E-2 is exactly a year, can't a lot of academies get out of paying it by saying,"Well, he didn't work a whole year. He worked here only 358 days"? |

Some try and they lose at the labor office.
Your contract and visa are for 1 full year so unless you QUIT or get fired for cause they will make the school pay out. |

I'm gonna extend for a month to get the full callendar year. I don't trust these mo - fo's.
I've also heard a lot of stories about people getting fired on the last day of their contract. They didn't even get the full pay for their last month. |

Why extend for a month? Your contract, unless you are a very special person, is for one year. |
