Rush Limbaugh took his show on the road this week, forsaking his main broadcast studio in Palm Beach, Fla., for one in Midtown Manhattan. But the change of scenery did nothing to dampen the Republican-on-Republican smackdown he has been waging from afar against Senator John McCain, the party's likely presidential nominee, whom Mr. Limbaugh considers too moderate.

As he opened his radio program Wednesday, Mr. Limbaugh lobbed yet another grenade.

"I would like today to announce a tentative decision I'm still thinking about it to endorse Barack Obama..."

Rush Limbaugh got flack for taking some kind of prescription drugs or something. I can't remember. I know the Evangelicals do not like McCain. Bush was saying what they wanted to hear, but he caused all kinds of problems, and McCain, in my opinion, should have been chosen the first time around. I supported him back then. Now, however, I support Obama. I don't know if he will beat Hillary Clinton, but he looks like he has a great shot at it if he can take Texas.... McCain is a decent guy when it comes to politicians. I prefer him to others.

There was a good cartoon in the same place Gopher put a link to, but I can't find it now. It had John McCain feeding Oxycotin to Rush Limbaugh.

I can't see why conservatives won't back McCain, he's the one they will eventually nominated (I wouldn't say he is the nominee, but it's pretty safe to say he will be). If the conservatives listen to Limbaugh and Coulter they are digging their own grave.

I see that that pompous blowhard par excellance Rush Limbaugh is fast becoming a media attention wh-ore. For that reason alone, he should be able to commiserate with Bill Clinton.

The fact that Rush and Pat don't endorse him is cause enough to like him in my book. The sooner the Republicans can rid themselves of the Far Left, the better.

Limbaugh, who's never had kids, never served in the military, and never attends church, is the bastion of the Bible-belt? That's rich.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what he and Ann Coulter are up to. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Like this:
Quote:
he is less concerned with being viewed as a national precinct captain who can deliver blocs of votes, or someone with the power perhaps to scuttle a presidential campaign, than with being seen as a broadcaster who can hold a huge audience.

I know he says he's an entertainer, but he obviously tries to influence political debate. It sounds like he is saying, "I'll do my best to destroy McCain just for fun, because he doesn't toe my line of true believer."

Does he want to drive everyone out of the party who has ever dared disagree with him at any time?

Isn't this called cutting off your nose to spite your face?

No, YTB, it's called having an ego bigger than his azz.

Don't forget: he's not well educated (formally speaking, of course).

Above all, Rush wishes to remain relevant.

The Republican "tent" that Rush sleeps in (or would if he lost his gut) is a Cub Scout pup tent.

The one good thing that could come out of their (I'm referring to Coulter and Limbaugh) little tissy fit, is that it will destroy their creditablity with at least some conservatives. The downside for conservatives would be that McCain would have to lose.

Geez...I hope he doesn't endorse Obama. He's clearly trying to weaken the Democrats somehow. If anything, someone should arrest him immediately and give him a drug test. He's higher then a kite.

The ONLY thing I can come up with is a few steps over the conspiracy theory line. Very Happy If Rush and Ann attack McCain for not being conservative enough, maybe they are hoping it will have the effect of making independents think McCain must be OK to vote for.

I could come up with one way over the conspiracy theory line.

Sweet! Circular firing squads are always fun to watch. Either Rush becomes irrelevant or McCain loses the election; what's not to root for?
