Well, they're not really in a dumpster, but my neighbor appears to be throwing out these items, which I really would like for some attic storage. They each have a yellow sticker on them with a price, which I assume is what they owe the city hauling company to take them away?
Can I just walk up and take them?

You can take them. The sticker is pre-paid at the dong office for disposal of large items. |

So the dong office isn't making a special trip out, and wouldn't be upset if they were taken? |

Just take them late at night so you don't get caught.
I have a friend who used to do this a lot. |

Take them late at night when the owner won't see.
Otherwise, they might get angry or they might try to charge you a fee for it. |

Yeah I remember reading about some guy who saw his ajusshi neighbor haul out a bed frame to the trash. He came along and grabbed it. The ajusshi pounded on his door demanding payment. *blink* He happily returned it to the trash.

There are times when I see half way decent things that Koreans throw away and think about taking them, but never do. The things people throw away. What a waste! |

I love the couch I picked up off the street. It had no damage, aside from tearing underneath. It was outside for two days during the fall and I scooped it late one evening.
I am still looking for a nice table and a perhaps a carpet, to really tie my place together. |

Dumpster diving rules. You can pick up some neat stuff that way. Just get a couple of mates to help you move those things when it gets dark. Nobody know, nobody gets upset |

I got a great mattress that way. Still very well-sprung and clean. I just asked the nice old halaboji who looked after our building if I could take it and he was 'yeah, fine' |

Just take them. Koreans leave things on the curb for anyone to take. |

There's a tasty double-mattress downstairs right now that I wish I could nab...but I'm outta here in 14 days, so not much point. I have a decent couch, though, carried up into my place in a drunken dash with a friend.
There was a cool computer desk left out about a week ago, but, again, I am leaving. Bummer. |
