|
|
www.gone2korea.com had the following to say about using multiple recruiters:
Quote: |
Fact: Using Multiple Recruiters - When applicants start using many recruiters (5+) to secure a job it has a negative affect on the overall success of their placement. Recruiters and schools quickly hear about such applicants and they often label them as difficult to work with. Recruiters feel that it's not worth their effort to source a school only to have these applicants say that they have gone with another recruiter, and schools feel that these people are very unstable to have as an employee. Doing your research and then deciding on 2 or even 3 recruiters that you trust is the best approach to getting a job you want.
We are not exagerating[sic]! |
I was under the impression that the best strategy is to keep looking until you get what you need and want. They also have a lot of other stuff to say about how you can hurt your chances and make yourself look bad while job hunting, most of which has some basis in truth.
But this, I'd like to know the real deal about working with recruiters. Seems like they can drum up a lot of business using this kind of language, but also some do genuinely want to help. |

Before coming to Korea I worked in sales in a couple of the most competitive industries in the USA. The best customer was the one that talked to me and only me before they made a purchase. This allowed me to make the highest commission possible and not have to deal with my competition bad mouthing the product I was selling. I loved these customers (suckers).
Recruiters are sales people. They make the most and the easiest money when you don't shop around. They are going to tell you anything to get you to work only with them. Don't believe it...do your homework and work with more than one recruiter.
As far as employers that will view you as being difficult for doing your homework and shopping around...you want nothing to do with them. Those are the employers that are looking for fresh off the boat suckers they can rob and abuse. An honest employer will have no problem hiring someone who knows exactly what they are getting themselves into by coming to Korea. In fact, they will appreciate the fact that they won't have to hold your hand for the next year.
Good luck. |

the number one rule when dealing with recruiters , is dont trust them!
One recruiter was trying to tell me that if I wanted a job in a certain area , then I d have to go thru them cause all the schools in that area only deal with that specific recruiter.
Life is alot easier when you deal with the school /hogwon directly |

Ha. When I first came to Korea I applied to 10 recruiters. Within 2 days I had several job offers, and within 4 days I'd signed the best contract of the bunch. |

Recruiters peform a service in return for compensation. Volunteers aside, don't we all?
Do your research, chum the water, shop around... only an idiot wouldn't. |

gone2korea is wacked.
Give them all your resume. If they have something for your, they'll place you. It's just more money for them.
It's the ones who don't have something good, and can't push you into a crap job, that get angry.
No recruiter is going to give up placing you just because some other recruiter is pissed that they didn't get your business. |

So true... every placement is worth approx. W1,000,000 to them (it varies). Prospective employees should be interviewing recruiters, not the converse. However, the universe has an almost unlimited supply of uninformed individuals. |

The information recruiters share between each other, when they do, is about psychotic teachers (and there are a few, let me tell you) who do insane things. Those are the people every tries to avoid. |
