No, you don't believe that, cause although you're not particularly clever, and far far less talentled than, say, me, in any area you care to consider, you're not that dumb, unless of course I'm mistakenly taking you for a mentally healthy individual when in fact you have severe autism, which would, in fact, explain a lot of your posting.
But let's just pretend hypothetically for a moment that you really do believe that. I can give you a good answer for this hypothetical situation. You are, as always, wrong.
Buddy, I like you, mainly cause I feel the same kind of simpathy for you that I feel when I see a lame dog. I want you to grow and prosper. And let's face it, you have so much growing you need to do, and fast. Sure, some are late developers, but you, my dear friend, are seriously dragging the chain. And so I hope you'll take this in the spirit in which it is intended when I say to you from the bottom of my heart ...
I'm better than you, in every conceivable way imaginable, and so is ever single other poster on this board, barring of course Austin and Dan and Sakamuras. You guys should all get together for a foursome, you'd have such fun, and it would keep you out of our hair for a few glorious moments.
Buddy, I'm in love with you, run away with me! |

Buddy Bradley has shown his total intellectual ignorance yet again. What you said was unf*cking-believably stupid. Your unenlightened attitude reaks of racial hatred. In Canada we have mixed cultures and I think we are doing fine as a nation. The Netherlands is another good example of all sorts of people living together in peace and harmony. If you are just a insecure individual that is looking for any attention, negative seems to do for you, I hereby apologize to all other reasonable members of this board for feeding this troll. To sum it up, one should be racially blind not intellectually blind. |

I believe that Korea gets a lot of international criticism for the exact reason that the population is so homogenic and their immigration policies are very discriminatory.

He is from Africa...where I would expect a white minority person who was used to having power to feel about different races. Pretty sure BB's racial hatred, and all around bad taste in posts is attributed to the fact he was once in power in his home country and that is not longer the case. |

I don't know who you were quoting, as you didn't bother to say, but I cannot stomach racism, and have only serious pity for ignorance. You seem to embrace both. As you are from South Africa, I can guess what you mean. On behalf of the majority of the world who are not white blond ignorant South Africans, please keep your opinion to yourself, and go find some others of your kind to live with.
I believe you may have a point, mixing your kind of people with any civilized people is a serious mistake.
Racism is one of the most irrational, primitive and harmful impulses known to humans. |

Racism.
I'm actually of the opinion that all races should mix and mix frequently. I have seldom ever met anyone who was of two mixes who could feel hatred or prejudice. They usually have a better grounding of the realities of racism on both sides..
If you Dad is black and your Mom is white for example.. who can you hate, or pass on prejudice comments about either race if they are both part of you.. you can't.. and particularly when they are both 'family'..
Brazilians and Cubans are exactly like this.. and so are many mixed offspring in the States.. particularly the younger generations growing up in California, New York, Florida, etc. (where already has been a lot of mixed racial parents).. |

| When I first came to Korea I lived in a small-medium sized city in the south of Korea. The place has maybe 300 thousand people. Maybe less. After I finished my contract, I moved to Seoul and lived there for a year. Now, I am back down south. And I dont miss Seoul one bit. There are things Seoul has that I do miss, like the big bookstores and the shopping. But thats pretty much it. Down here I can enjoy clean air. I have a car so I can see all of the southern coast without having to take vacations. I dont need to go on hour long subway rides of I want to see a park. I dont need to feel like a sardine in a can when I get on any sort of public transportation. It is cheaper, cleaner and safer down here. I like Seoul and will probably get up there from time to time, but I dont miss it. That said, eventually I will have to get back up there since teaching isnt something I want to do for more than 3 more years. Seoul offers more career opportunities in other fields. In 3 years I will be financially set enough to buy a new apartment in Seoul and pursue an MBA. But I will go to Seoul because I need to, not because I want to. |

I'm fully in favor of interracial marriages and children, and often yank my students chains by telling them I'm in an international relationship. . . with an American
I have made some very good half Korean friends here and they tend to be extremely bitter about Korean culture- far more than the worst of the posts I've seen here. Perhaps it's due to the treatment that they receive here, I dunno.
For the people here busy with the latest crop of half Koreans, I wouldn't worry so much. The attitudes towards foreigners and interracial people is changing so rapidly that they probably won't have to endure as much racism as my friends have. *fingers crossed for luck* |

| Just because someone is from South Africa shouldn't give them the right to spout such garbage. I work with a White South African at my School and he is a well spoken, enlightened person. He finds it ridiculous that they discriminate against Black people here, as far as hiring English teachers that is. Like any country, there are good apples and bad apples. |

I am glad to hear that some attitudes, even with older Korean people, are changing.
I met one lady who has a 13 year old son. She is about 41. She said she doesn't mind if her son marries a Chinese, Japanese, American, Canadian, etc, in the future. She just wants him to be happy. |

You know, that is very true too....I have heard most of the people "from Seoul" are not, and they just were lucky enough or scrappy enough to climb on the backs of others to get the hell out of the "hick" province and become "cosmopolitan" Seoulites.
I met a lot of Koreans when I was in Los Angeles. Guess where they said they were all from??? |
Katydid - So many people do this when overseas! I do it too... who's going to know the name of my city... just outside Melbourne? I always say I'm from Melbourne when people ask. (Unless the person is from Melbourne - then they'll know where I grew up.) If you come from a city just outside LA... aren't you going to say LA or <insert small city name here>? I know I'm not being snooty or trying to sound more "cosmopolitan"... |
But you are what just outside Melbourne, not 5 hours away from it! That's what I mean. And there may be some people who are thinking, "Oh, jeez this person isn't going to know Muan," which is what I and you do, and there are people who will think "Oh my God, Muan is so backwards, I better say I'm from Seoul." even if the person couldn't tell Muan from Busan or whatever.
I'm guilty of fudging where I am from too, but only when I meet someone casually for the first time. I say "The last place I lived was Los Angeles," or I say "I grew up an hour north of Boston," only because I'm not sure if the person I just met wants to hear my travel itinerary, or if they are not American, wouldn't know where New Hampshire was. And I'm sorry, but I have met Americans who don't know where New Hampshire is. When I get to know them better, then I will tell them where I originated from and then pull out the map.
Seoul is a huge city, and it could very well be that everyone I met WAS from Seoul. Hell, you have to be rich to live IN Seoul, you might then be rich enough to move and settle to another country, as well. I just wish that if they weren't from Seoul, they would say where they were from...might be good for a learning experience. |

I use to struggle with this as well.. the hometown state for me feels like lifetimes ago.. it doesn't have any real connection.. the last place I lived seems more appropriate as its more a reflection of adult-hood choices as well.. tough call.. I go back and forth all of the time.. or I list everywhere I've lived.. depends on how I feel that day when being asked.. |

I like your thinking!
I've heard in America, at least that soon, we will all be blended together. A long time ago someone ran a study or a story on it with an "artist's composite" of what an American would look like maybe in about as soon as 100 years. Americans are going to look very Hispanic soon, according to this article.
I'm all for racial mixing myself...if I have children with someone darker than me, at least they will not have to freakishly avoid the sun like I do. |

Exactly! Same here! Exact same here!
Its interesting as well.. as most 'very white looking people' aren't that attracted to each other either. At least they don't seem to be to me. I'm so attracted to dark features.. brown eyes, brown skin, dark hair.. I want my children to be a mix of that. Its very attractive too.. |
