Hi there,

After being back home for a week and having a really good dance with friends I am keen to go out dancing tomorrow night. Unfortunately all my friends are busy or away so I'm looking for any tips of where would be best to go on my own?

I live outside Seoul and would be looking to fill my time until the subway starts again at 5.30.

I've been to a couple of clubs already, but always in a group.

Any suggestions of the best "single" friendly places in Seoul very much appreciated!

No Korean places.

The only singles I've ever seen have been in Itaewon (mind you, I haven't been out almost since Tommy Dorsey was the big thing so my evaluation could be off). Of course, everybody will assume that you're looking to get picked up (which you might be, in which case you'll be in luck).

I imagine the single guys will be chiming in to help you out in no time (you're a female, right?)

Yeah, I'm female. It's annoying because all the male friends I have can just stroll in anywhere and sit at the bar and they're sorted!

Gogo's, Club FF, Club Ska....all right next door to each other in Hongdae. Friendly places with nice mix of westerners and foreigners....although fairly quiet during the week, and only full at the weekends.

Check out their location on Wikimapia.org

Type in "club ff" on the search box on top right hand corner of the screen... Enjoy!

But the way I see it I came to Korea all by myself so how hard can going in to a club by myself be, but you are right - I probably am a loser Very Happy

(Now I can't stop thinking about Radiohead's 'Creep'...... I may have to go to a Noraebang on my own now too, lol Wink )

It would only feel loserish if you have no self-confidence. If it's what you WANT to do, then do it.

Blondielass, enjoy! I love going out on my own sometimes and the clubs the above poster recommended sound great.

Yes, you would only be a loser if you think you are a loser. I have gone to these kinds of places with people and I have also gone alone plenty of times. I was just on vacation alone in China and I went to an awesome club...that's right...alone. What are you supposed to do if you take a trip alone and want to go clubbing? Just cry alone in your hotel room??? I don't think so. I had a blast! That club beats any club I've ever gone to here in Seoul. Seoul is fun, but it just isn't as cosmoplitan as places like Hong Kong, Shanghai, cities in Japan, etc.

Go and have fun!
Don't listen to the Chris Kwons of the world, who probably has self esteem issues and lacks confidence.

Seoul's a great place for going out on your own!

Uh, really? I don't have a problem with me or anyone else going out alone, but when you compare seoul to other major cities for doing that, well, it doesn't hold up. That's true for eating alone, too. Korea just isn't designed that way.

This is ridiculous lol

When people go to the club alone, at least in America, they are perceived to be losers. Who goes to the club alone? People without friends! It doesn't relate to self esteem and confidence you douche bag. Keep going for that loser image and pretend you have great self esteem and confidence, when in fact no one wants to hang out with you for a reason.

True. I do go out alone sometimes in Seoul, but it is worse to go out alone in Seoul than anywhere else. In China, for instance, last week no one batted an eyelash when I went to some bars and a club alone. But in China last week, when I went to this one restaurant, they asked me if I'd be willing to sit with other people, since I was alone, it was busy, and they mostly had tables for 4 or more people. I wasn't too keen on having to agree to sit woth strangers, so they took me upstairs to a table to sit alone, then right before I finsihed my meal, I had to sit with 4 strangers...a Chinese family, and the little girl stared at me. I was almost finished anyways and left soon after they were seated with me, so no problems. But, in Seoul, especially on coupley nights, like V-day and Christmas Eve, I wouldn't want to go for dinner alone, unless it was somewhere like a small cafe.

In Korea, I have been given pity looks from bartenders and have eve had them come up to me and ask me things like "Aren't you lonely"? "Don't you have any friends"? My ex Korean boyfriend even teased me and asked me if I was wangtta, which means a loner with no friends.
