Kohjinsha K800X for sale.

My girlfriend got this as a gift but wants a macbook.

Street price around 780,000 won. Use Explorer to open this link, firefox=bad:(
http://www.bb.co.kr/main/pd/go_mall_frame.php?mall_id=1901&m_name=%B3%D7%C0%CC%C6%AE%B8%F4&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmall.nate.com%2Fitem%2Fitem.do%3Fmethod%3DdoItemDetailView%26site_no%3D2%26site_sale_goods_no%3D11013355%26alliance_comp_no%3D107%26refer_path_cd%3D05%26refer_sub_path_cd%3D20027

She's had it for only a few days.
The battery has been only used once lightly(I told her that if she wants to sell it, she shouldn't use it).
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Cosmetically, there are some scuff marks on the black panel along the top from handling it with mittens.
It's similar like how the black ipod is more prone to small scratches versus the white ipod. The lcd is pristine and it still has the plastic on the back.

Since it's been taken out of the box, it's not new anymore, but there are some things that haven't been used:
1. Portable pouch
2. The stylus pen (has touch screen but it's only been lightly touched once)

Specs:

It has the newest upgraded Intel processor A110(800MHz) and upgraded with 1GB of RAM.

Comes with warranty card and packaged in the box just like it was on the first day.

My humble review:

Strengths:
1. Portable. Carry it everywhere and get on the internet.
2. Windows XP Home Edition SP2 (Korean). Reinstall anytime from the recovery partition on the disk. Came installed. You can reinstall everything fresh again.
3. Awsome for watching movies. I can't see any lag on any video I've seen.
4. There is a Kohjinsha a/s store in Korea. Should be ok for a year.
There are a lot more things this computer can do...

Weaknesses:
1. This isn't a desktop replacement.
2. Since it's small, typing is slower(speed reduced about 15%) than using a full size keyboard. You can buy a usb keyboard for serious typing.
3. If your comfortable with XP you shouldn't have too many problems using a Korean XP.

Read this superdave's review of an older model for size comparisons.
http://superdave.blogdns.org/superdave/KohjinshaMiniReview

There are tons of reviews out there on the older models. The speed is considerably good. Better than my old Pentium III.

710,000 won or better.
Girlfriend wants a quick sale, but I'm trying to convince her to keep it.
Serious buyers please.Very Happy

This one's also used, has an 80gb HDD (to your 120GB) Otherwise, specs look similar at first glance...

This one's 450.

Yep, that one has been used since 2006!!! And I'm sure that one has a slower processor.

The make date on mine is January 2008.

Yeah, I'd want a macbook too...better than having to get fitted for bifocals.

That's what the gf said! The UMPC market is not for the visually impaired.

Impossible. The K801 hasn't been out since 2006. Anyway yours is a great little PC, but if she wants a quick sale she'll need to reduce the price. That's just the way it is. Sucks I know as it's good value at 700,000.

Tell her to keep it or use it yourself and give her the cash as a gift.

There is a date of manufacture on the computer and it says "January 2008". I think what they did was take all their old inventory and upgraded them.
This is not a refurbished used model like the one on the auction.

Anyway, your right. This little thing is really good for it's advantages. It's like a I-Station on steroids with the convenience of a notebook. I may take it myself if I don't get any serious offers in the coming days.

What is she really willing to take.

600k?

A few 10k's of the new price doesn't really make it that tempting when you could go to a shop and pay the same knowing that you now have the ability to go back to the shop and speak to a specific person if there is a problem.

I convinced her not to go below 700,000won, because if she does it would be better to keep it.
You could go to the store, but you won't find this model with XP SP2.

I had my gf call Kohjinsha and they said only online retailers are selling it.
She's had it for less than a week and the company said, the model is under warranty with whoever has it.
They are pushing Vista on their new new machines, but from what I hear, Vista is a resource hog.

Meh. I'd buy a used one with XP2 for around 400,000, but I wouldn't go higher than that. I'm not desperate for one, though.

Vista.... hmmm... wouldn't probably bother yet.

That's not what I meant. I'm sure yours is new, but that one in the auction can't be from 2006 as the K801 was released in mid2007. The SA1 has been around since 2006 but that's a totally different machine depsite a few cosmetic similarities.

I have a Raon Digital Everun. Great little machine for the subways. Small screen size isn't an issue there. A 7inch screen is plenty. Just increase the icon size and set up the fonts etc.

Best to read the Korean on the site.
There seems to be a lot of questions and confusion on that auction site.
You may be right about the manufacture date, but for that product it needs to be checked thoroughly.

My guess is that they took a used K800 model and threw in a updated cpu and added a bigger stick of ram and now call it a K801.

Nope, There wasn't anything even remotely like the K800 until recently. I've been following UMPCs intently for a year. Typing this on my Everun now, so I won't go into too much detail.

Sounds like your girlfriend is ready to deal, but you aren't. What's your gf's email?
