|
|
First up star trek is coming back:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7246641.stm
But delayed until May 2009, not Christmas 2008. Hrmph. You ask me, I like a Star Trek movie at Christmas time. I like this idea, actually, of doing the old series but with new actors. Wonder what they'll do with the Klingons?
Lucas is coming out with a clone wars cartoon:
http://www.starwars.com/theclonewars/news/announcement.html
I much didn't like the previous clone wars cartoon. This is supposed to then kick off a TV show. I thought the TV would be live action. I was hoping something of the quality of Battlestar Galactica. But I dunno. I don't really look forward to a cartoon.
Tho, looking at some initial video:
http://www.starwars.com/video/view/000623.html
the animation looks rather good. Hrm. The still I've seen looked stupid but the animation has me going "ah this might work". |

| The Star Wars fan fiction is pretty good. My son got me hooked on it. I especially like the writing style of Timothy Zahn. |

The Zahn stuff was good, with the exception of how Thrawn could psychoanalyze an entire planet by looking at a single painting and from that, extrapolating every possible future action of said planet, planning for it, and then countering it. |

| I didn't remember Thrawn knowing psycohistory in those books. |

Not quite as funny as the (fake?) laughter makes it sound, but still pretty funny. |

Ever seen the fan movie, "Troops"? You can download it here:

It's short, only 10 minutes, but really well-done. |

I haven't seen that one, but did you ever see the fan movie Dark Resurrection? It's about an hour long and also pretty good. I downloaded it off of Azureus Vuze. |

Ah, I should add that it's a parody/spoof of the show Cops; Stormtroopers on Tatooine (sp?) Serious fans may be offended, but I thought it filled in a couple of holes rather tidily. |

Translation #3:
"I felt like if we changed where Han shot Greedo, and edited in some cheesy laser shot of Greedo taking the shot first and missing at point-blank range, we could sell different versions of boxed sets and make even more money, while also appearing to be more politically correct." |

Yeah that was done like 10 years ago now but it is still, in my opinion, the best piece of fan video fiction ever done. |
