|

Hey, does anybody know about teaching for Temp. Agencies in South Korea? I am an esl Teacher with four years experience, one of which was in Korea; i have an M.Ed., a B.A. in English and a uni TESL Certificate. I've heard that teachers can make some very good money working for Temp. Agencies in Korea....Only problem: does anybody know of any agencies in Korea and how to contact them?
Thank you much,

There are NO temp agencies who can legally sponsor an E2 visa for Korea.
Unless you have an F2/4/5 you are looking for trouble and it is certainly easy enough to find. |

Hey ttompatz, you seem to know a lot about this. Please, I take an E-2 to be the regular gov't permision stamp to teach in the ROK, but what, (i feel too ignorant here) are those other acronyms about?
So, following from your comments, the way to do temping (without trouble, that is; And i never look for trouble: as they say, a little trouble goes a long way!! ) is to get an E-2 (or another of those troublesome acronyms....SP?) and then, on yer free-time (and of course if yer E-2 employer's contract legally permits this), go a'temping, huh? And, if that's all, in fact, cool, it brings me back to an earlier question: Do you or anybody else know of any temping agencies in Korea; and, if so, any contact information?
thank you much,

Hi, an E2 is the VISA you need to be a teacher in Korea. What ttompatz said is that a 'temp' agency will be doing something illegal hiring you out to other schools. You can only work for the school that holds your VISA (plus 1 more school, if your original school agrees to it and immigration stamps your Alien Registration Card - ARC).
The F visas are for people who are married to Koreans, Koreans from other countries (parents moved there) or people with some Korean blood (I think). Soooo, you should not be looking for temp jobs just yet - you stand a chance of deportation.
Now, here's what you should be doing: try get a Uni job. You have an MEd and a TEFL certificate, so you may find yourself a decent UNI job with some good vacation time and a decent salary. You can also try arrange to have a second job added. Work a few extra hours a day (University jobs have less teaching time per month) and you can make...I'll estimate W3 mil+.
Best of luck. Do be sure to get all your documents: criminal record check, apostilled degree (or original, not entirely sure anymore), transcripts etc. |

Like Tom said :Only those with F visas could work at a temp agency. I'm sure the money is good, but it sounds pretty unstble to me. There are easier ways to make $$ here. |
