This may be what a lot of people from Ontario are looking for. They say they're faster than the RCMP check, there isn't any fingerprinting, and it includes a vulnerable sector check. There may or may not be a catch, but I'm going to try them at renewal time, and hopefully it will work out.

If anyone knows of any problems, please let me know, but it seems to be worth investigating. |

The Commissionaires provide the same service throughout Canada.

I just got my CRC w/ VSS from them. No fingerprinting. It cost $40 and it was delivered to me in 7 days. They call you when it's ready so that you can pick it up yourself that day if you want. They were also really helpful. I told them that I needed it because I was going to South Korea, and they handed me a bunch of photocopies about the new visa regulations. I was pretty impressed by that, since they offer other services and provide record checks for many different reasons. I definitely recommend their services! |

Thanks for posting the links. Both sites look promising, however the Commisionaires site says that you must apply in person. If that's the case, you may as well go to your local PD. I sent them an email asking if there is any way possible to do it from overseas. I will post when I hear. |

Ya, I think you need to actually go into the Commissionaires office...which isn't much help for people in SK already. I'm still in Canada, and I had a lot of trouble getting a vulnerable sector search included in the CRC....The Toronto police wouldn't do it, neither would the RCMP (They didn't really give me an answer as to WHY they couldn't include VSS in the CRC, they just said they wouldn't do it). I've heard that in other parts of Canada, PD's will include the VSS. But for some reason, the Toronto Police are being difficult. so anyway, if you are a Toronto resident planning on going to Korea, your best bet is to just go straight to the Commissionaires. It will save you a lot of trouble. |

OISE you can do by post, which is why it was so appealing to me. Getting home and back, even if just for a police check, would cost me the better part of a month's salary, but I've been hearing horror stories about the wait for the mail-order RCMP check. |
