Just a little note. I recently found I have a cronic disease...sucks, especially to be in a different country...but cest la vie.
Korea has respectable hospitals (they do some things really well) and I have been pretty happy so far with the treatment. My only beef is a lack of patient history (they don't ask enough questions sometimes) and a lack of explanation of the side effects of medication.
They actually told me nothing about my medication. So I got the pharmacist to write all the names of the drugs in English. I looked them up on line and found there is a whole slew of side effects. While I still have to take the meds, I'm at least aware that I shouldn't mix them with painkillers, alcohol and that when I feel tired and crummy in the morning it's not me, it's the drugs.
My doctor didn't tell me any of this and I was having a few really rough mornings after a couple of drinks....then tried to remedy the situation with a painkiller. I missed a few days of work just because of this.
So, check out your medication online and find out about it!!!! |

| If you are an adult you should know that mixing alcohol with prescription drugs is a bad idea. The Korean doctors should not have had to tell you this. Grow up and accept responsibility for your own immaturity and mistakes. |

Speaking of drugs, are you mixing any other drugs with your medicine? Crack, speed, uppers, downers, etc. etc. |

I recommend you shop around for a more competent doctor and pharmacist. Every time I've visited a doctor here and had to get a prescription, the doctor and the pharmacist both told me in detail how to take the meds and what not to mix them with. That's been my experience in four different cities.
I strongly recommend that you heed the advice of the other posters, also. An adult should know by the age of majority that mixing drugs with booze is counterindicated. |

Thank you all for you wonderful comments about mixing meds and booze...I knew that one. You guys are wonderful. Not all drugs are bad with painkillers or booze. Some are worse than others. With prescriptions meds you can often have a few drinks. I had a few drinks...as in 2. I basically haven't had more than 10 drinks in the last year. The particular drugs I'm taking have a particularily bad reaction with alchohol as well as acetaminophen.....by the way, taking acetaminophen is not a problem for a hangover, you shouldn't mix painkillers while drinking, but thanks to the poster for jumping to conclusions and crapping on me for taking them while drinking. Now thank you very much for proving what an idiot I am and how profoundly smart you all are.
Do any of you actually think or do you just parrot whatever your parents or GP tell you?

This thread was not about mixing alchohol with meds...it's about getting proper info from your doctor or pharmacist. I've had several doctors and many pharmacists, not once was I told about the nature of the meds I was taking. I'm not talking about regular antibiotics, I'm talking really strong stuff......I was not made aware of just how damamging they would be. They damage the liver and could lead to hepatitis for one. I see specialists at Yonsei. Specialists I did a lot of research to find.
Go piss all over another thread please and save your little egoes for someone who doesn't know how full of shit you are.
again, I'll re-iterete: take some time to do some research about the medication your doctor has prescribed in Korea. The languae barrier often means that you aren't getting enough info. |
