Sounds like from this year, SMOE will begin checking directly for transcripts -- no more ordering ourselves. They want to check themselves, because they apparently feel they can do it more throughly if they do it themselves.
They also applied to loosen restrictions on who can get an E-2 (more countries allowed), although it hasn't passed yet.
Wonder how they'll do this... many unis won't let just anyone get transcripts?? |

Good. But I don't believe they'll put this in place. This makes too much sense. |

I don't know about other countries, but under the Canadian Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act if my university was to release my transcripts to anyone (without my permission), they'ed be open to a lawsuit.
Giving permission will entail as much, if not more, 'work' than just just ordering the transcripts. One good thing- you can now get SMOE to pay for them. |

As a recent applicant, I was required to have my school send my transcript directly to EPIK. I was told they no longer accept transcripts from the applicant. |

The situation is similar for Americans. Universities are prohibited under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act from releasing educational records without the signed consent of the student. Anyone who wants a copy of your transcript sent directly to them will first have to obtain a signed release form from you. |

Oh good!
I can alway photoshop the school envelope, stuff my fake transcript, and send it to them. But I hope they don't call the school directly to verify. |

That's good if you plan on changing jobs before three months. Immigration only accepts transcripts that have been issued within three months. |

This is illegal in the US, too. I'm the only person who is legally allowed to receive my own transcripts. |

Officially yes, but I've twice submitted transcripts older than three months and there were no problems. I'm sure you know as well as I do that the rules and laws of Korea are never enforced consistently. |

Negative.
You're mixing this up with the CRC.
If you graduated five years ago, your transcripts are not going to change. |

Another half baked idea brought to you by the idiots who try to control foreigners.... I mean run education... in this country.
Pretty sure that privacy laws prevent this in Australia too. |
