Can I extend my E2 visa online? I only need it extended one day, as my flight leaves one day after my ARC expires.

My friend said that last year, she extended hers online via the immigration website. I can't seem to figure out how that is done.

Has anyone extended it online, and if so, how did you go about doing it? It would sure save me the hassle of trekking all the way to the immigration office. I'd much prefer to do it online if it's at all possible.

Make sure you print out the confirmation email and take it to the airport with you.

Maybe I just had bad luck, but the airline check-in clerk told me I had 'overstayed' and would not give me my boarding pass until I went to Immigration Affairs... who told me: I had 'overstayed' by 24 hrs.; it was impossible to extend online; and I had to pay a fine... they finally straightened it out after several phone calls to supervisors. Then the actual Immigration Officer who processed me out of the country told me I had to go back to Immigration Affairs because I had 'overstayed' and had to pay a fine... more phone calls to supervisors, and was FINALLY allowed to leave without paying a fine.

All this with 'hard copy' proof that I had extended online. Sparkling! Rolling Eyes

Holy....that sounds mighty stressful. How long ago was it you did this online and left the country? Was it long enough ago that they'd be accustomed to people doing it online now?

Maybe it's not worth the stress....

You get 2 weeks past the date on your ARC so don't worry!

No need to extend for a single day.

I've left the country every time past the date on my ARC and have never had a problem. I was told 2 weeks years ago.

Why don't you call immigration and find out. That would be logical step wouldn't it?

I have spoken to immigration, and my school has, and it's always been said you can't stay past the date on your ARC without extending, which is why I've asked where you've gotten your information from.

My visa expired last year and I stayed almost 2 weeks over.

You cannot stay past the exit order date, but the date on your actual ARC isn't that important.

Is your exit order the letter you get from Immigration? Cause yeah, I got that, and it said "Your ARC/visa is expiring on March 1st. You must leave the country by then, or come to immigration with your plane ticket for an extension" - I'm paraphrasing, obviously, but that's what it pretty much said. I also got a text message reminder from immigration as well.

I called immigration today. I expire on the 3rd (my VISA anyway) and leave on the night of the 5th. She told me to go online to extend. I have to use internet explorer. That has a virus on my computer so I'm going to go to PC bang (I'm using firefox to post this). At the GEPIK orientation, they said we have two weeks grace. Then the next day they told us not to take their word on it. Scary if they have no idea what's happening.

I was also told that for now, there are no penalties but they'll take it into account next time you apply to come to Korea. I like tying up loose ends and keeping the system off my back, so I'll extend, but if it all falls through, I'm not too worried. What are they going to do? Put my on my own flight and 'deport' me? No shed tears over that one.

I had to try about six times to get the name right on the website. Apparently my last name became my first name, my second middle name is my surname, my first name is my middle name and the other middle name got demoted down the order. So it pays to juggle the combinations to register on the website.
