|

Ok no I don't know how to spell Kerfuffle...but that's how it sounds to me.
I have gone in circles up to this point. I'm on an E2 visa and working 120 hrs a month.
My boss has be registered as a Independent worker. I have been working here for almost 12 moths. There are 9 teachers in total (all not paying pension). I do believe that he is supposed to pay pension. I have talked to numerous regional offices. He has given them information that states I am an independent worker. As such, I do not have to pay pension. Yeongdeung Po office said that this means I can't get pension. Anyang City office said that this is illegal but since I didn't pay into pension for the past twelve months, I wouldn't pay now.
YeongDeung-Po Office called my manager and asked her to explain the situation to me. She said that Hogwans can opt out of pension by getting us to sign a contract as an independent worker (which I guess I did unknowingly). The information that she gave me was dated from 2002 and in Korean but I trust my managers translation. It said that the rules go for both Korean workers and Foreign Employees working in Hogwans. We can both choose whether to pay into pension or not.
I guess I need to know if this information has changed. If so... PLEASE give me the name and phone number of a specific person that has helped another person deal with this situation. My boss has a pretty tight case that makes none of the regional offices want to deal with him or me.
I have contacted the National Office, however they have not gotten back to me and the guy that I spoke to doesn't understand what I'm saying half the time. How did you guys figure this out? Am I really up Sh!t Creek without a paddle with reference to this issue?
I really don't care about paying the pension. I really care if my boss is doing something illegal I want it to stop. I have explained my situation to probably 10 different pension people and I hope you can help me. There are 8 other people working at this office. I want to know if they should be paying into pension.
I will not be leaving the country at the end of this term as I signed on for another contract at Yonsei University. Paying the pension contributions would also be no problem for me.
I tried to do something about this earlier this year, but my boss made me feel like I was doing something wrong by investigating pension.
I hope you can help me

My old hagwon pulled the same deal with me, I didnt bother to fight it as I'm not eiligible for a pension refund, (In fact I'm not supposed to make any pension contribution at all!). I'm pretty sure if my boss knew this, he would have deducted pension and then pocketed it himself...but I digress. |

I did preview that site and that was why I went about trying to figure it all out. The flipping NPS is retarded in my eyes and my boss is a dick. I have a week left and really the only reason I wanted to do this was to piss of my boss.....but well......I guess I have a few other things to worry about right now like moving. |
