The job was for teaching corporate business classes, some at the corporation itself, some at "our academy." It was originally described as a "sole" contact with LG, then evolved to become..."You will teach classes based on need of contract."
Recruiter: How much do you want per month?
Me: Maybe we could discuss the job first?
Recruiter: You will teach business men in Gumi. It's a good job. How much?
Me: OK...so how many lessons a week?
Recruiter: You have to be flexible.
Me: OK. And housing?
Recruiter: Yes.
Me: Could you be more specific?
Recruiter: You'll probably get it. I need to know how much you want so I can tell my boss. But if it's above 2.1 he will say no....hello?
Too amusing. I just hung up. Laughed. There are so many other countries and cultures out there that offer comparable money, why bother with Korea? |

This agency/school is a joke. I talked with a guy named "Eugene" about 3 years ago. This is a typical case of the agency that screws it itself.
The class was 10 adults, in the morning, for the local Government. I told him the pay was low, and we'd need to increase the salary. I went in, met the contact person, and things went well. Afterwards Eugene says "no", they couldn't get any more money, but after talking to the "contact" I found out he did in fact negotiate higher payment (based on their interview with me), but decided to LIE to me.
I told the contact person what had happened, and that I could not work with an agency like that. The "contact" then promptly offered to hire me directly becuase he had no "contract" with the agency. lol
The contract lasted over a year.
Euegene threatened to have me "black listed"! oh noes!
Classic recruiter stupidity mixed with greed. The really funny thing is, I still work with the government people to this day (on translations), but have never heard another word from Lee Sin Ho (Eugene).
Typical lying goofball.
Just say no.
(This group should go on the bad recruiter list fo sho') |

The recruiter's name is Peter Moon. When I asked to see a basic contract with the salary left blank for negotiating purposes, he asked me, 'Why do I want to waste my time with you?'
Nice, Peter. Nice. |

Ha, ha. Same guy called me.
Him: How much? (without me knowing anything but it involved LG and other companies and I have that kind of experience)
Me: 2.7
Him: Ooh. That's too much. My boss is looking for 2.1 or 2.2
Me: So you're cheap?
Etc.
I got him to send me an e-mail. He called again and told me that it was easy work. The students just want someone to talk to to get used to speaking. Company men who travel overseas and need English skills. So that's why it pays 2.1 or 2.2. I told him it doesn't matter how easy it is. I asked how much the companies pay and he said something vague about 1 million to the academy and maybe 4 or 5 students in the class. I just thanked him for his time and told him I command more money that that and that I didn't really want to live in Gimpo.
Douchebags. |
