Little help here canucks..

ok so, I emailed the embassy in Toronto, just to clarify and get specific answers for what I needed to bring to the embassy and, I quote, "contact your employer to get specific information"! WTF, i asked very simple questions, ie: Do i need to have a face to face interview, and if so, do i have to make an appointment with the consulate ahead of time? anyway, can someone please clarify!

1. I need to have the my CRC and diploma certified by the consulate, and also, I need to have a face to face interview right? So, can I mail the documents to them to have them put their seal on them? Then, send the rest of the required documents to my employer in Korea?

2. Or, do I need to have the interview before I can send the documents to my employer in Korea?

3. Basically, I want to go to Toronto a little as possible as it's over 3 hours from my house (which I know isn't that bad, but considering I don't have a car and my parents work, if I have to go twice, that can be very expensive) so please, someone clarify what I need to do, and the steps I need to do them in!

P.S.

I really felt that the response I got from the consulate was vague, lazy, and unprofessional. I asked them very specific questions, and they gave me a very poor answer. I already know what I have to send to my employer, hence the reason I didn't ask that question to the consulate! Anyway...........

P.S. I did a search, to try and find a previous thread in the forums, but, when I search, the search page just comes up as a blank white page so I am unable to search for some reason....therefore, if this has been answered already, please point me in the right direction!

Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what I need to start processing my E2 visa. I would like to come to Toronto this week to get things started.

So far, I have the criminal record check, with vulnerable sectors search, and it has been notarized by a lawyer.

I have 3 sealed transcripts.

I have my original diploma. (does that need to be notarized before I come to the consulate?)

I have 6 passport size photos.

I have been issued an E2 visa before, so this is my second time going to Korea.

I see that I must have an interview and a completed health form. I looked on your website and I could not find a link to any health forms. Are they in your office?

Please let me know what else I need to start the visa application process!

Hello Jason, the health statement should be submit to Korea after you got your visa.
Any document issued by Canada must be notarized by lawyer and get a consular seal at the Consulate General.
Please, contact your employer to find out more specific infomation.

one final note...the reason I asked about the health form is because my employer requested one from me to be sent with all of my documents, however, they said that it should be "submit to korea after you got your visa"

hey man,

so im just right in the middle of the whole process just like you, and im from Toronto, so maybe i can help you out.

you can work things out to only go into Toronto once, and that would be for your interview.

you can send them your notarized CBC w vulnerable search and original degree (i would get it photocopied and notarized and send them both). you need to include money for the stamp and a return envelope or whatever (the info is on their website)

they will stamp it for you, send it back and then you send everything to korea. your employer will submit those doc's to the korean immigration in korea and they will issue you a visa issuance number (takes 4-5 days).

at THAT point, youll need to contact Toronto to schedule an interview. you go in, takes like 10 minutes, and there you go, you got your visa.

you need to do the health exam once you get to korea (you have 90 days).

Similar situation, although only 2 hours from TO.

This is what I've been told to do/ done so far:

Sent my CBC with VS, a notarized copy of it, my original degree, a notarized copy of it, a copy of my passport information page, one sealed transcript via Express post and paid return express postage to the Consulate and money for the seals ($4.40).

They received it and sent it back out the next day with the consular seal on the notarized copies.

I then sent the CBC, the notarized copy, and the notarized copy of my degree with 5 passport sized photos, the completed health form (the one that asks if you have or have ever had HIV), a copy of the information page of my passport page, a resume and my signed contract to my school in Korea.

Once I receive my visa issuance number, I've been told I then have to drop off my application at the consulate (but it can be done by mail), at which point they will schedule you an interview for either Tuesday or Thursday (the only days they do them). After you complete your interview, your visa should be ready for pick up within 2 days.

Perhaps, since you're so far away, you could send your application in, schedule your interview for a Tuesday, go to TO and stay with a friend until it's ready to be picked up?

I'll update once I've completed the process.... (any day now....).

awesome, thanks a million for the help guys....friggin impossible to get exact info on what to do...I read their website, and it has most of what you guys told me, but not everthing!

ok so once i get the issuance # back, I have to fill out the visa application form, include that #, and then I can mail it to them....now, to schedule an interview, do I have to wait until they receive the application? Or, will they call me to schedule one? or??

Ya i have friends and family in TO (who doesnt now adays) so i might just drop the application off in person and then stay in toronto until the process is finished!!

the health statement should have been sent to you by your recruiter/employer

heres a link to it anyway, this is the generic one that i even filled out, so if you dont hear back from your employer, just fill this one out and send it back to them

and in terms of the interview, im not at the stage yet, but ive heard you just call them and schedule one. dont wait on them to call you.

Yeah, my recruiter sent me the form.

As for the interview, I also haven't done it yet, but from what I understand, once they approve your application (which they can do almost right away), then you ask them about scheduling the interview.

I will hopefully be going out to the Consulate next week so I'll let you know what happens.

You can only schedule your interview after you have received your visa issuance number. You need to go in person to the consulate to book your interview with specific documents and only between the hours of 9am to noon.

My recruiter sent me an email of all the required documents I had to submit for my visa to first send it to the school in Korea, and then for the consulate.
All recruiters should know about the new visa procedures, that's their job!
If you have questions about documents I think you need to clear it up with your recruiter, they are just being lazy by getting you to ask the embassy.

the thing is that I'm taking over for a friend at an academy, and there is no recruiter involved, so essentially, I am the recruiter! haha

but ya, I think I've got most of this sorted out now!
