Does anyone have experience studying Korean at a hagwon? Does anyone know of any Korean language hagwons in the Seoul or Gyeonggi-do area? What are the prices and schedules like? I'd be willing to commute for classes.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think most foreigners study Korean at a university. There are some other places where foreigners can learn Korean such as churches, gu-offices, or some random places in Hongdae or Itaewon.

There's not really hagwons though. At least from what I know. Check the FAQ forum. You might be able to find more info there.

As usualy, Endo doesn't know anything.

YBM offers classes in Jongro.
There are a number of different places around Kangnam

Korean classes at a private institute will run you between 100,000-150,000 a month for night classes 3 times a week. YBM for example is 115,000 a month not including course books.

This place uses and follows the SNU curriculum and is a little more expensive than your average hagwon.

Just do a google search and you'll find a lot.

I had bad experience with GANADA institute close the Ewha womens uni.

Pretty girls, yes, but hardly qualified to teach.

stay away

Cost me 350.000 per month and amounted to nothing much.

The good stuff is that you can look at a pretty face for three hours, and they pass you no matter how bad you are.

On another note, I talked to someone who went to Yonsei University, and he highly recommended that one.

I attended Sogang and found it great with the focus on conversation. I also met a few students who defected from Yonsei and they all say they enjoy Sogang classes more than the mundane classes they had at Yonsei. If anyone is serious about learning Korean I think Sogang is good upto level 4 and maybe Yonsei would be better from level 4 onwards to get a more complete grasp of the grammar and know it inside out which is what they focus on

Me too! Have you seen the "CoSM" movie?

On topic--

Are there any courses that meet on the weekends or evenings (after 7:00)? I work at a public school, so the courses that are held during the daytime aren't up my alley... Confused Thanks!

Yonsei is for serious academic learners of Korean, to be honest, who have no time but to learn Korean or are looking for a career involving usage of the language.

Does anyone have the timetable for the classes at Sogang? Do they offer morning, afternoon and night courses?

I work at a university and have long vacations during which I would like to study at Sogang or another uni with a solid Korean curriculum.

Does anyone know if these courses run during the university vacation?

Many thanks,

Herbs Beans
