I've been offered a job in Hwajeong and would like to know some info about it.
How easy is it to get to Seoul? Are there any good bars or clubs?
Any info would be cool. |

I know a bit about Hwajeong:
The subway is very handy. Hwajeong is about 40min to Jongno or 1hr to Itaewon (transfer needed).
There is a direct express orange bus from Hwajeong to Gangnam which is about 45 mins on a good day (number 9700 or something).
There is a long-distance bus terminal in Hwajeong, near the subway station operating to most places except Busan. Good for day trips to places like Sokcho or Cheongju.
There are 2 supermarkets in Hwajeong, with a decent although not extravagent range. It used to have a WalMart, but not now.
Perhaps 5 western fast-food places.
About 10 PC bangs in walking distance to Hwajeong subway.
There is a small mall strip with variety shops.
In 2005 there were about 10 hagwons in Hwajeong, not sure how many today.
It's a good solid suburb with decent amenity. |

The real good thing about hwajeong is that it is 5 stops away from Ilsan.Ilsan has just about everything you could possibly need. |

I lived there in 2003-2004. It was a happening place, with Adventure Korea (bar) and 3 big box places. Lots of bars and night life. Totally saturated with hagwons (jobs for whiteys).
Last time I went, it had really gone downhill. |

When Ilsan man lived in Hwjeong , it had alot more of a nightlife .But these days , most of the action has moved to ilsan.
Actully , there arent as many hogwons as there use to be.
Some of the schools in hwajeong will let their teachers have apartments in Ilsan |

That's what I meant by going downhill.
Also, when I lived there, the expat crowd were about 80% assclowns. Maybe that part has gotten better.

My grandma lives there.
It's fine food and convenience-wise (there's a huge EMart and other stores), but not much nightlife to speak of. It's close to Jungbalsan and Lafesta (shopping, movies, etc.) so it's not entirely bad. But still not my cup of tea. |

If you are talking about Lafesta, it is 4 stops. Hwajeong is 316 on the orange line and Lafesta is 312- Jeongbalsam.
BTW, isn't Hwajeong part of Ilsan? |

Emart and Lottemart are within one block of the subway station. |
