Hi folks!

Friendly word of warning.

My nanny brings Critter to work everyday at lunch. It's just good for everybody. She had an issue with her card exiting at Samseong Station, so when she just got through the gate, she kept going. (The machine gave her an error message, even though there was money on her card.)

Next thing she knows, this tiny gal from the PI is being marched to the subway office, where they're demanding 30,000 won from her because of her "infraction".

Now, there IS a baby expo going on at COEX, so the place is filthy with strollers, and I can understand the guys being more strict than usual, but on her part, it was a pretty honest mistake. She's very new to Korea as well...

Meanwhile, I'm in my usual quiet corner of our "meet the baby" coffee shop, waiting for them, when I get the message. Raced to the subway, dealt with it, talked the guy down substantially on the fine, and we're outta there.

The whole thing was really scary for her, and I had to reassure her that it was a perfectly honest mistake, because she seemed pretty spooked about riding the subway again. Can't have that, because I've gotten pretty used to my lunch dates with the baby and don't want to give them up just yet...

So people, yes, be warned! The guy was pretty serious about the 30,000 won fine... You never know when they'll have an enforcement quota to make.

Maybe you should just consider leaving the animal at home.

I thought this was going to be a thread about your nanny getting picked up by a young stud and boned there and then on the subway with a carriage full of adjoshies cracking one off.

That's Critter there right next to the computer. Wink Ain't she a dream?

Re: Race. Could have been, but I doubt the guy really wanted the hassle of the language issues. I think all he saw was dark hair, expensive looking stroller, and figured it was time for a random enforcement. They'd been in there for 1/2 hour before I showed up, and we were another 20 minutes at least.

Poor ajoshi cut into his own lunch hour with this one...

I thought it was going to be about an Immigration bust. "My Nanny Got Deported! Crying or Very sad And I Got Fined For Hiring Her! Crying or Very sad "

I still don't understand what the fine was for. "No strollers on subway!" ? "OUR mechanical errors result in YOUR being fined!" ? Confused

That's insane. She couldn't simply show them card failed? Geez. People jump the stupid turnstiles all the time and no one gets off their boney ass.

I'm asking the same thing. Nailed for what?

I think Simone just wanted us to see her baby's picture and to let us know she has a nanny and an expensive stroller. Laughing

Well, where's Jinju when you need him? It's been ages since I've been called a bad mother.

The seat, BTW, is a bumbo. Great little contraption. Completely immobilizes the baby, but they like it. And expensive-LOOKING. Seriously man, I'm a great shopper, and not afraid to schlep heavy/bulky items as international baggage.

I wish they'd fine people 30,000 for jumping the turnstiles. It's like an asshole tax.

Your nanny is the exception. 98% of people who do that are intentionally trying to get out of paying $1 fare. Seriously. Who can't afford the subway???

Here we go again with another person posting generalizations. Haven't you been posting on Dave's long enough to know you that aren't supposed to do that?

Geez.
