I do not see a connection between what I assume you mean to be fliers of current students to the pics you posted of school children during The Japanese Occupation. |

The link is to photos of Cambodians imprisoned and probably killed by the Khmer Rouge. Their expressions I don't find much different from the expressions I see on the faces of Korea students used to promote hagwons. |

| I've noticed that too. A few years ago a recruiter I used didn't like the photo I submitted. He claimed I didn't look happy when, in fact, my expression was simply neutral. He claimed that Koreans like happy and smiling pictures. I told him that was a load of hooey. In most such photos (taxi id, bus driver id, job applications, hagwon ads) the people look like they sat on a can of spray paint. |

A few years ago , me and my korean co teacher were talking with a student , and she commented on how korean people are always happy and they smile alot.
My korean co teacher seemed to agree with the student . |

I've never heard that metaphor before. If you made it up, it's great and quite funny. I fully intend to steal it in future. |
