I've heard it's possible to pay Electric / Gas bills through a bank machine instead of having the staff in a bank do it for you - I have no trouble reading the forms, despite not being familiar with any of the vocabulary printed on them - So what do I need to look for inorder to do that? |

i tried to do that but it was too hard... you best to get a Korean to go and show you an the ATM... also some ATM have English option for nbank transfer... so they might have English menu.
Also you can pay online banking too... the bank account info is on the bill... it might be easier as once its set up pretty simple.... |

I've done Bank Transfers before so that's not a problem. I pay rent that way, and it's not that difficult to work through the Korean menu for me. I just need to know where to fill in the correct details so the person receiving the money knows who it's from. |

I don't understand what you mean, "Knows who it's from." They know based on the name on your account, don't they?
And Hana and Woori both have transfer options in English. |

yes, i'd like to know how to pay my bills as well without having to go into the bank to do so. I can read Hangul but that is the extent of it...i don't know much Korean.
I bank with Nonhyup. does anyone know if there is an English menu on the atm's that allows one to pay their bills there? |

Most of the time, someone can help you. Pay attention to which buttons to click and when to enter your bank card. |

Embarrassingly enough, my Hangul sucks for what it should be after a couple of years . My bank machine works like this: swipe your deposit book (or insert atm card), top right button, then far top left button. Then it is time to feed the bills through. It took me awhile, but I figured it out . |

I just paid my bills through the ATM last night. Depending on which bill you are paying, the info will be in different locations. There will be a list of different banks, and beside the name of the bank there is an account number. Using that account number, you just transfer the amount of money from your bank account to theirs. Fairly simple!! (If you can read the Hangul.)
I've been in Korea for awhile, and for some reason still have problems figuring out the bill paying machine inside. I always had to have the guy help me. I like using the ATM much better. I don't have to run to get to the bank before it closes, and stand in a long time, or wait for a guy to help me. I can go to the ATM any time I want. I may still have to wait in line, but it is nowhere near as long! I hope this helps. |

On the contract for the apartment, my name is written in Hangul. Yet my bank account is with Roman letters. So that's why I was concerned. They may not know who it's from. Not to mention it has no relation to the owner or agent. |
