OK, when I was in Seoul, I used to go to Itaewon and buy the typical "touristy" stuff for some folks back home, just for a little something different. Among the things I bought were the Chinese-looking dresses and shirt/pants combos for my niece and nephew -- and they were a total hit...so much so that it has become an imperative that I re-purchase them in larger sizes for Christmas. Unfortunately, as I am not in Seoul near Itaewon (where such outfits are abundant), I can't seem to find them.
I live in Pohang now, and I have been to Crazy Cho's near Kim's Club downtown -- they have a couple of such outfits, but haven't had the proper sizes for the last 2 months (been looking a while). Anyone see any of that kind of stuff elsewhere in Pohang, and if not, perhaps Pusan or even Taegu -- I am hoping to not have to traipse to Seoul just for some pajamas, but I am a good uncle, and the little ones really want another set...help me out if you can please!
Basically, if a shop or area sells "tourist crap" then they probably have what I am looking for -- point me in a direction if you are able, if you please.... |

Daegu's open market is alot like Naemdemun. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, I think Daegu is the textile capital of Korea. Should be able to find some stuff there.
On a side note, Kyungju is only 30 minutes away and there's lots of touristy crap there if you're looking for stuff other than clothes. I bought most of my stuff there and the jade is really cheap!! |

Yep, Funk, I'm still lurking about -- left muh computer in the states, so not quite as active as I used to be...fixin' that mistake come Christmas time....
Thanks for the information -- both Kyongju and Taegu are an easier jaunt than Seoul, so I will shoot for that this weekend....
I was impressed to see my "Life in Pohang" thread lasting so long and growing so large -- who'da thunk it? I mean, now that I am here and have seen the Chicken Man and Giant Step and stuff...well, it is like living in a novel or something...well, maybe not a novel, but a story...er, thumbnail sketch...er...an on-topic paragraph? |

OK, looks like I need to head to Kyongju or Pusan or Taegu or something -- can anyone tell me the name of the shopping area in any of the cities, so that I can tell a cabby where to take me once I hit the bus station? Gonna head out on Friday I think -- you can tell me in English, Konglish, or Korean, but I don't want to be wandering a whole city looking for the tourist traps |
