-I asked my co-teacher why all the male koreans go out to room salons and nor-ae-bangs and call for girls, but make all the female teachers go home. I said "why not bring the women teachers and save money."
-She informed me, the women at room salons and da-bangs, their job is to amuse men, they are professional. I don't amuse men. I am a teacher.

Maybe I am missing something here, you propose the female teachers come out so that the men can save money on buying "entertainment"?
If this is the case, you are lucky she did not slap the p*ss outta you.
If you make boneheaded comments like that, you will not have fun anywhere. |

Wow.
I mean . . . wow. Did you also ask why they go home after work instead of putting in a few shifts at the 안마? That's also a legitimate question. You can flatter your coworkers by saying they're much prettier than the women working at the 안마 now. |

I think your social skills might have more to do with why you're not having fun here... just my guess. Have you tried talking to a woman and not suggesting that she be a wh0re? |

-I think I made the point badly...I was trying to explain that I don't understand why, if all we do is drink and sing, can't the (much younger, english speaking, attractive) teachers come with us. I understand paying for sex, in concept. But paying for female 'companionship' is strange. Why can't the women have some fun too? |

I don't think you made any point badly, you were just making a critical point about the culture you live in.........
Korean men love whores, they don't want their wives or female co-workers to see!!!! |

The whole point is that they want to unwind... relax. They don't want to have to worry about gossip the next day, awkward work situations, etc.
Is it really that hard to see?
The women do get invited out... but after they go home, it's man time!
I expect that as women gain more power in the workplace, such activities will continue if not increase... |

My apologies, I get your point now. I guess I've just come across too many raunchy posts lately and took what you said one way - obviously no the way you intended it.
Yeah, it is a shame that men and women here can't just go out and have a good time together as a group. It seems people can only really relax with their very, very close friends or with the same sex. Not that surprising given the culture, though. Maybe you could try being the one who rallies everyone together at your school. Maybe, don't know that it would work.
Sorry again for jumping to conclusions. I can just see very clearly why Korean females would not appreciate your suggestion given that they could see your comment as saying they could fulfill the entertainment role for the guys. |

That has got to be the stupiest thing I've ever seen here. Why not just call her a *beep* to her face and ask how much.
OP...that was dumb. Seriously dumb. |

Sex Matters to Women Who Say It Doesn't: Study
Chosun Ilbo (October 26, 2005)

Korean men and women have distinctly different notions of sex in a marriage, a survey suggests. The Korea Institute for Sexology came up with the finding by comparing a 2003 poll of 1,613 married men nationwide with another last April of 1,000 married women in five metropolitan cities.
It found that a mere 4.4 percent of women thought sex was important in marriage, compared with 77 percent of men -- almost as many as the 74.8 percent of women who said it was unimportant. A substantial 20.2 percent said maybe it mattered (compared to 14 percent of men), but only 2 percent of married men said sex did not matter. When asked if prostitutes are needed to satisfy men's sexual needs, 20.4 percent of women and 61 percent of men agreed.... |
Sex Buying Practices Still Rampant: Survey

According to a survey of managers at 302 local companies across the country, more than 53 percent of the respondents said they visit quasi-brothels when they have the choptae meetings with their business partners while over 28 percent of them do the same thing after a company dinner.
The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in cooperation with TNS Korea between Nov. 23 to 29 to investigate company dinners and the choptae culture.
Buying sex in Korea is banned since the government's anti-prostitution law went into effect last September. Law enforcement authorities have cracked down on the sex trade, especially in red-light districts nationwide.... |

Then why didn't you simply ask the MEN? Some of the posters hit the nail on the head with this one. Either a pathetic attempt to get in good graces with the co-workers, or just no social skills. Don't look for support on this one. |

wtfff @ "When asked if prostitutes are needed to satisfy men's sexual needs, 20.4 percent of women"
Way to just throw in the towel and not care if your husband is banging prosti's, as long as he's buying he coach bags. |
