was the answer to the first one? That's the only theory I saw, except for the dicussion about Chicago being windy.

If we have to have a theory, then I see 2:

a) Truman wanted Doris Day to be the star of South Pacific, but the Commies were making so much noise that she couldn't hear the phone when he called, so Mitzi wound up with the lead.

b) Joe D. had been batting for the other team with McCarthy and Nixon but became a switch hitter to marry Marilyn, but she pissed him off when she went to Korea.

Not bad. Very Happy

Okay I won't belabor this one. Think a really bad pop/rock song from the 1980s. Final clue:

The guy on the left was an American. He owned one of the world's biggest printing companies and was also a renowned conservationist.
More to the point, pay attention to the guy to the forefront. Take a look at this picture here:

Okay so it's Daley. Former mayor of Chicago, Mayor during the 1968 DNC there.

Renowned "conservationist" or renowned "conservative"? A conservationist is either someone who likes nature, or someone who works to preserve old paintings.

A picture of Billy Joel is the final clue along with 'Think a really bad pop/rock song'....Mr. MOS, what kind of lousy clue was that? Every song BJ was ever associated with was bad.

Yes, there was so much nostalgia for Chicago in the thread, that I thought a good Daley(the older one, as his son is the current mayor) would add to the discussion. That was not the 1968 convention as JFK was already dead. It was a Chicago campaign stop in 1960.

The other guy is not important. His name was Gaylord Donnelly and he was interested in conserving for the enviornment.
