Pretty quiet so far this weekend. This whole Matts Sundin thing is a joke in my opinion. The guys signs a one year deal last summer. Cool. Did he really think the Leafs had a shot at the Cup this year? Heck, Maurice said the Leafs were not a playoff team back in September.

So now Matts doesn't want to be traded? Wants to finish up in Toronto? What a joke. JFJ is an idiot for giving him a no trade clause or Matts is going back on his word saying he would take a trade come this time if the Leafs are not in contention.

If the guy really wants to help his club, he will take a trade, pick a good contender for the Cup, give his Leafs a few good picks.

Though at the end of the day, I hope he stays and screws the Leafs over and they get nothing...not even the number 1 pick. I'm a Sens fan and Allfie will win the Hart.

Any other takes....Hossa? Where is he going? Love to hear what others think.

What's funny about the Sundin situation, is how much Leaf fans think he is worth. I don't think he is even worth a first round pick.

You heard it here first, Canucks win the Cup this year (or next, or the one after, etc...)

Seriously, we have great D (if they are healthy) and Lou. AS for the much maligned offence, Brian Rolston said it best the other day, "those guys (Sedins) are first line (calibre) on ANY team in the NHL.

Hail! HAil! Canucks

I think a team that did pick up Sundin would certainly be stronger for it. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means a supporter of the Laffs, I bleed the bleu, blanc et rouge of the Habs. However, Sundin is still a formidable player and leader at the advanced (for the NHL) age of 37.

If he is traded, it will purely be for the rental of a team looking to go deep in the play-offs. Once he becomes an UFA in July, I could see him moving to a rebuilding team in need of some veteran leadership like LA or Chicago.

Back to the Habs, Gainey has been quoted as saying he is actively looking for an impact player. Both Hossa and Alex Tanguay have been named as possibles, but I'm afraid making a trade like this could upset the chemistry of a team doing far better than many "experts" predicted at the beginning of the season.

Regardless, I do love this time of year, more for the anticipation and speculation of what could happen at the deadline rather than what usually happens.

Go Habs!

Can't agree with you on your opinion on Mats Sundin thinking that the leafs had a chance at the playoff being a joke. If, there the leafs new how to play defence, the forwards did what they were paid to do they could have made it. I'm a leaf hatter and in fact would love to see Sundin head over to my Habs for a run....but he earned the no-trade clause and a long time ago we use to value guys that wanted to stay with there team until the end....now we blame them for making it hard to rebuild the team. In fact its poor management, trades and scouting that has created this situation in Toronto...can't build a team from the outside look at teams that continue to have success over the last 5-7 years Colorado, Detroit, Ottawa and New Jersey they have a good system constantly bringing up good players.....Thats what the Habs have now..but it took a lot of years and frustration from fans!

I image Sundin heading to Colorado a little Nordique Nostalgia maybe Detroit...or stay close to TO for a return next year MTL or OTT...but can't see that really.

As for Hossa he is gone and I bet he goes to the West....and I think it would be a surprise team we haven't heard about being in the mix maybe Dallas..there stars are getting old and Hossa could become the man there if they can sign him.

As for the rest of the Leaf team I definitely think McCabe is gone...San Jose to help there playoff powerplay problems...leafs could get Carle for him etc...

The Leafs really make me smile. I love the idea of keeping a losing team together with no-trade clauses. These boys just want to play out the season and call it a day. There is nothing in their contracts that states they have to care about the playoffs.

Winning a cup isn't a big deal anyway- you only get to carry the thing around for a day and they eventually remove the Cup ring bearing your name.

The playoffs are for fools who buy into the luck, randomness and wasted effort that comes with making a playoff run. There are no dynasties because it's all about luck!

Huh? Seriously? Are you trolling? Smile Donkey, ever play a team sport? Ever make the playoffs? Did you want to quit at that point? I don't care what age one is, there is nothing better than the taste of winning, especially with a team. Winning a championship is a pinnacle point in an athletes career in any sport...heck even pick up sticks! Winning the Cup isn't about having it for a day or about getting a ring. Its about what you and your teamates did as a single unit.

Dynasties are not luck! My goodness do you really believe that? Wow, well if what you say is true, I would have bought me some lottery tickets if I were on the Oilers in the 80's.

McCabe has a no trade. He will only go to Long Island where his wife is. Sundin will be a Red Wing IMO.

I agree about Toronto's poor management. Bit em in the bum hard and it will for years to come....but to say that Toronto knew it could be a playoff team back in the fall...no way! Paul Maurice said it was not happening. They didnt make it last year and what did they do in the offseason? They signed Toskala! One guy! At one point in this season, Toronto lost 5 games in a row, all to BACK UP goalies! They are crap, knew they would be crap and that is the best way to describle their season! I love it! Sens have never won a Cup, but I can say this much, it will be our 11th season in a row to the big dance and im glad to be back!
