What are the recruiters making on the PT/hr. Public jobs?

Say a teacher gets a job at a public school on a PT basis through a recruiter. The teacher is paid 35,000 per hour. Are the recruiters getting a chunk above that, or are they only getting a placement fee?

They usally take AT LEAST 50% off the top, but they'll rape the willing.

That's why they place people who are working illegally, they're in fact in violation of the law themselves for providing them to the client. Just ask them to send you the tax reporting information on your pay hahahah.

I hope the Korean governement starts cracking down on agents/agenices with all these new laws. They sure as hell need to.

My wife and I are planning on contacting some local public schools. We're wondering what we should ask per hour. Recruiters are offering 35,000.

Just go straight to the source and ask the direct employer what they're "standard" is, or just tell them you work at the "same rate" as the recruiters.....let them give you the number to work from though. I'd say 50k is a minimum, but that's just me.

Alot of times recruiters will post an add offereing , say for example , 35 000/ a class. Once the teacher has applied , the recruiter will request an interview.The teacher will go to the interview only to realise that the recruiter wants to pay less then the advertised amount.

Over the years , what Ive noticed is that if you put alot of effort into teaching at your regular job, sooner or later your students, students parents ,or korean co workers will offer you privates.The trick is ,too do a good job in your regular job

avoid recruiters!

The after school programs are very shady. Working in a public school and you're actually working for a hogwan. Not kosher.

For a comparison, I got a 4 hr/wk p/t gig at a kindergarten. I got 40,000/hr, not bad, but the recruiter got 250,000 per month until the school director kicked him to the curb - that's 15,000+ per hour for doing next to nothing. He later told me he was only making 10,000 per hour, which to me still sounds high, and that was less than other recruiters. When I pointed out that he was making 15,000+ per hour, he said he had too many clients to keep track of how much he was getting paid for each one... Smile

I have never really heard anyone having a good experience working with a recruiter, but I would push for at least 40,000, really 45,000 is still a steal for them, or just find a way to go to the institutions directly. Or (I haven't tried this) go to the initial interview, "turn down" the job, then go back to the same institution and offer your services. Very Happy

PT hours at public schools go for about 35,000 per hour (just read worknplay.co.kr). The recruiters are taking another chunk on top of that. Some have said 10,000 to 15,000 won per hour that YOU work. I've heard rumors that it's 20,000+.

I almost dumped my uni job to teach a morning and an afternoon doing this at two schools. 7 hours per day at 35,000 won. Five days a week.
You do the math. I knew one Canadian woman doing this, and she was pulling down close to 5 million legal per month.

Now imagine how much more you could make if you booked the hours at your school yourself (or your Korean wife/husband did) and there was no recruiting fee.

This is exactly what the wife and I are thinking of doing. We're just trying to get an idea of what we can truly get. We know we can get 35,000 per hour. We're wondering if we can get 50,000.

If you have a proven track record, 50k shouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty sure 50K wouldn't be a problem if you have any kind of experience, the hard part would just be convincing them not to work with a recruiter (they seem to think they actually need a recruiter and many times feel strange working without one).

Trying to get the wifey to apply for a business license to become, in essence, my recruiter.

Anyone tried this?

Don't know the details, but I've heard it's really, really tough to legally become a recruiter. I read another thread on it a while ago but I forgot the details... sorry.

As I understand it, we can set it up as a consulting business. She wouldn't be recruiting others. Just me.

The point is that we're paying tax on earnings.
