My husband and I have rescued two dogs. They are both vaccinated and very adoptable--a Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix and a Miniature Schnauzer-Poodle mix. I need help finding appropriate permanent homes for them. We are looking for an "older" (meaning not mid-twenties) individual or couple that are fairly settled, whether they be teachers or other Westerners. For obvious reasons, we are unwilling to pass them on to a Korean family that, no matter how well-intentioned, has a far different standard of animal rights. We are not pushing them out the door and can continue to foster for a few more weeks until the right homes present themselves, but again I really need some guidance on where to look for kind and willing Western families.
I feel slightly guilty that we are looking for homes at a time that I know that large group of dogs is in dire need of placement although, as I mentioned, our situation is nowhere near as pressing. We looked into the army vet clinic that has an adoption service but they have a 3 day-3 week euthanization policy, at the vet's discretion. Although they are young, fun, and personable dogs I am not interested in putting them in harms way there or elsewhere.
Please help. I am really heart broken that we have to find other homes, but we have a dog that we came with and cannot realistically give two additional dogs the regularity and commitment that they deserve. If you are more established and willing to be a permanent home, or if you know where I might look to find such a home, please PM. |

I love this. So are half Western half Korean families okay? Do you have to meet them in order to be able to make that decision? What about gyopos? Gyopos okay? What if they lived half their life in Korea and half their life in the West? Hmmm bet that's a toughie isn't it? You'd probably have to mull that one over for a while huh? |

I sincerely apologize if being over cautious is construed as insensitive. Frankly, I expect to have a conversation or meeting with anyone interested in committing to one of these dogs, and if a person of any background expresses interest I am happy to do so. My own roots are in Trinidad where, like Korea, dogs are undervalued and mistreated. Admitting facts, here or elsewhere, is not my sly way of undercutting an otherwise valuable culture. And admitting that older and more established people are less likely to make an animal expendable is not my way of undercutting twenty-somethings.
Now, apologies and explanations made, please only reply if you have sincere interest in helping these animals find a home. Thanks. |
