The sign said " No Arabs to sit down or cunsume alcohol or talk with ladies. We respect your belief in Islam.

I wonder if they really respect their religious beliefs or they just don't want them as customers.

Several years ago, Arab passengers in a Thai Airways flight, claimed they didn't know alchohol was served on flights. They kept ordering, & got very drunk. Rather than blame themselves, they blamed Thai Airways. All flights originating from the Middle East are now 'dry'.

And Arabs head straight for Patpong, & the girlie bars, when they arrive in Bkk. Just a hint of hypocricy?

Pattaya is a sleazy 'Itaewon on the beach', as well.

Crusher. My point was that Arabs don't take responsibility for their own actions.

..... I don't know about that. Mad

Out of Soviet nationalities, my impression is that Russians and Kazakhs most frequent Pattaya. Many charter flights from siberia and kazakh to places like Utapao.

Ukraines not so much. They would perhaps be a lower percentage and their behavior proportional only to their low numbers.

Poles and Romanians have more Euro dollars to spend nowadays as well and they would be an growing market in Thailand to spend their new money.

Luckily for Pattaya, enough ladyboys for all.

I wonder if there's an expat Arab community in Pattaya that has its own Internet message board.

Are all Arabs muslim?

How do you know that the Arabs heading straight for Patong and the girlie bars are practising muslims? Can you tell by looking at them?

Dude,

The sign is racist. There is no reasoning other than hate to put that sign up.

What other signs of hate has anyone seen? No Americans?

They should put up a sign that says, "No Canadians with maple leaf on their backpacks."

Why are Canadians so self-righteous?

Hey, go to Japan - businesses all over Japan openly post signs saying, "White People Stay Out - Japanese ONLY!" This is not uncommon in Japan.

Three guesses which part of the world the woman in black comes from? Hint. It's not Malaysia or Indonesia. And from the CIA factbook:

Saudi Arabia: Religions: Muslim 100%
UAE: Muslim 96% (Shi'a 16%), other (includes Christian, Hindu) 4%
Oman: Ibadhi Muslim 75%, other (includes Sunni Muslim, Shi'a Muslim, Hindu) 25% ie, almost 100%

Qatar: Muslim 77.5%, Christian 8.5%, other 14% (2004 census)

Many Christians & Hindus in the Middle East, are guest workers from the Philippines & India.

beer bar owners can choose to serve and not serve whomever they please. we're talking about thailand here, not the politically correct U.S. of A.
quit trying to fit the western square peg into the eastern round hole. if i saw a sign saying NO WHITES ALLOWED i'd just keep walking. why on earth would i want to go where i am obviously not welcomed? and who cares if the motive is racially driven. there's racism all over the place and it's high time we just accept it for what it is and stop trying to perpetuate the foolish notion that any society can actually attain some phoney baloney homogenous, harmonious means of existence. i say let the cards fall where they may.

itaewon on the beach? i like that analogy and will continue to frequent both places. however i must argue that the goods along the coconut bar far surpass the goods on hooker hill.

Thailand is also having massive problems with separatist Muslims in the south (Pattani. Yala, Naraithiwat). Many thousands have been killed over the past 5 years, with thinly veiled threats to bring the carnage right into the centre of Bkk / Pattaya, similar to what happened in Bali, in 2002.

Thais are normally a very tolerant people, but can't say I blame them for their reaction to the violence.

Remarks like this, reinforce my earlier claim, that many Muslims refuse to accept responsibilty for their own actions:

"If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?

"The uncovered meat is the problem." "If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred." "women were "weapons" used by "Satan" to control men".

This, in response to series of brutal pack rapes by Muslims, on Australian women. The author, Hilaly, was rightly condemned for his irresponsible remarks.
