Just saw this is finally on the CVG theater webpage. I love the Coen Brothers (though you people who voted The Big Lebowski as their best movie are insane) and McCarthy's probably my favorite writer.
The problem seems to be I live in Gwangju. Went to the CVG theater expecting to see this, and it wasn't there.
Does anyone know if every movie that is released by a cinema chain makes its way around Korea?
If not, does anyone know how long No Country will be playing in Seoul? Yeah, I'm probably going to travel there just to see it... I'm a nerd.
Also, could the South Korean release date of March 6th for There Will Be Blood have any meaning? I really don't see the Koreans giving a shit about a really challenging and artsy three hour epic... but man I hope so. PTA is my hero.
Help. |

This is no country for No Country. Lame, but I couldn't resist. Luckily I got to see it just before I returned to Korea; it is fantastic on the big screen. The end (whether you think it is effective or not) hits like a sledgehammer in the theater.

Naw. All their movies, at the heart, are about movies and the conventions and possibilities of cinema as near as I can tell, and Lebowski is their best expression (so far) of the sheer pleasure and joy of film. |

I haven't seen The Big Lebowksi in a while... I don't know- it was funny, just seems a bit quirky, even for the Coens, or gimmicky or something... like it's based on funny names and catch phrases and stuff. Didn't think it was really powerful film making or anything. Very funny, and I love Jeff Bridges, but it just seems kind of minor compared with Fargo and Miller's Crossing. I just thought there are so many classic scenes in those and way fewer in The Big Lebowski, which mostly seems to be heralded by dumb ass frat boys (which you obviously are not), which might have also put me off a bit. Maybe I should see it again.
Anyway, any idea how long No Country will be in Seoul, and whether it will come to Gwangju? Maybe the Best Picture achievement will help it get around?? |

Those bootlegs you're getting... are they shot on a handheld camera or are they real DVDs? I imagine the former, since the flick isn't out on DVD yet, but maybe someone passed around an Oscar screener... |

I saw 'there will be blood' last night..
I liked 'Old Country' a little more although Daniel Day Lewis was mesmerising. Is it just me or does he channel DeNiro(doing Capone) alot? |

The torrent is DVD quality. Use Isohunt for torrent downloads; each torrent displays comments, allowing you to decide more accurately whether it's for real or not. |

i watched about thirty minutes of no country and then stopped because it was just so boring really. does it get any better or is that it--a chase for a killer around a few cities? is there a plot to it? there will be blood at least had a terrific storyline and great ending. |

The plot is this:
A guy finds a load of drug money. One sociapthic hitman is searching for that guy.
I'm not sure what more you need. Who stops watching an oscar nominated movie after 30 minutes..really the first 30 minutes are not that bad. (or bad at all imo..but definitly good enough to keep someone watching)
I liked 'There will be blood' also..Daniel Day Lewis was great. Although if I had have stopped watching it after 30 minutes I could have said...
I watched about thirty minutes of 'there will be blood' but it was so boring..does it get any better than this: a man looking for oil? Is there a plot to it or just dramatic music? I only have thirty minutes to spare so rather than find out myself I'll ask online..
Indeed the other day I watched Rear Window , well the first 30 minutes anyway..but it was just do boring..does that guy ever go anywhere? Is there even a plot? ^^ |
