I love this site! Thanks to some very helpful people who looked over some lame contracts, I was able to dodge a very messy first year!

So, i think I have basically decided to go the public school route. Any thoughts/experiences on public vs. private?

Also, what about EPIG vs. EPIK?

One last one....Jeju Island vs. Gimhae?

Thanks for all your help!!

All public school education offices have pretty good reputations except for GEPIK.

It's the Gyoenggi Province Education Office. Don't work for a school in Gyoenggi Province. It's like working for a bad Hagwon. Please trust me, you may contact me privately if you want.

I was about to post this subject but I am glad you did. I am planning on applying this spring and hopefully leaving in the fall. The road I want to take is to teach in public school while getting a higher degree online. Then one day (years before this happens) I want to teach in a Unv. in Korea.

Jeju has different rules from the rest of Korea. They are a special administrative region (think Hong Kong or Macao). They also completely screwed me over. You get your visa upon arriving to Jeju island (you get it at the airport immigration I guess) so it might have different rules for getting an E2 now. Jeju is supposed to be a pretty great place, however I think it's probably better left for a vacation area.
