Second, comparing working at your hogwon and doing OT and playing in front of 19,000 plus fans live not to mention the millions around the world while having a few million DOLLARS, NOT WON, is not even worth a rebutal.
He should quit being a poofter and move on. Help himself and his team. HE CAN GO BACK NEXT YEAR, DONT FORGET THAT! |
So for you is this an issue about money or audience (or both)? At what point in salary or audience do you feel that one is obligated to go above and beyond a contracts requirements?
Just because he can come back next year should have no bearing on whether his decision is right or wrong. He feels that he should be there for the entire journey or not at all- i personally feel that loyalty is a fine trait to have in a captain, even if you view it as selfishness. |

Do you carry a copy of you contract in your back pocket? Cause when the boss asks you to do something, I got a feeling that you pull it out and ask him to find where it says you have to do it. Its called employee/employer relations. You know, going the extra mile. I scratch you back you scratch mine...whatever.
Remember Donkey, it was you saying that he may not want to play in the spring. What an "outlandish" statement....did i use that right?
Matts isn't screwing the Leafs. You can't screw someone on something they don't have. But he is holding back the Leafs.
Imagine, just imagine he goes. Toronto scores big in the trade. Matty signs next year to a new and improved Leafs club (crazy ass statement but you never know!) and they take a run at the Cup....September to June. Or he just goes back to the same crap team next year...or he retires a Dan Marino.
Whatever, im a Sens fan and were going to the big dance. And I will say it again for the record, no trade clauses are a joke. When does one say to themselves "Hey man, I have it good...my kids, and their kids will have it good...I have been blessed with my skills and the privlage to play in the NHL....screw it, I'll take the trade and move on...what do I care. Life is going to be alright for me and my family."
I am not saying it is all about the money, but damn, Matts doesn't need to worry about bread on his table does he now? Now pull out your contract and tell your boss that you won't work that extra class because in Article 2, Section B it clearly states "the employee....."

Daegu Kid,
You should have stopped after your first post. People would have thought that you knew what you were talking about. As for no-trade clauses, I agree with you that they shouldn't be handed out to everybody.
You can't blame Mats Sundin for not leaving the Leafs. He has been there for 13 years and overall has been the highest scoring Leaf of all time. He has had pluggers for linemates for the last decade and still manages to put up a point a game.
JFJ really screwed that team, giving no trade clauses to players like Darcy Tucker, Pavel Kubina and Bryan McCabe. Watch these players turn it on for the rest of the season, because they all know that there is a good chance that the Leafs will buy out there contracts over the summer. They are playing for jobs now.
As for your Sens...desperate. Alfie for the Hart? You must be sniffing the same stuff up your nose that Ray Emery is. I have watched alot of games this year...and I don't think acquiring Martin Lapointe at the dead line is enough to push you guys over the edge. Your coach will be fired today, and word out of Ottawa is that there is something really wrong with the Chemistry on that team.
Pittsburg will contend for the Cup. Hossa is unproven in the playoffs (refer to DaeguKid) and he is a UFA next year. If he wants to sign for the big bucks, he will have to perform. Sid the Kid is going to be as hungry as he has ever been, and if the Pens go deep into the playoffs, Gary Roberts could make a late return.
To give you some props though, as a Leaf fan, I know that we are screwed...Toronto will make some big moves on Draft Day in another futile attempt to regain glory. |

Wow, your so smart! Pittsburgh will contend for the Cup. You should be an analyst...no wait, another wizard took your seat on the TSN panel. Guess you have to stick to the day job!
Pitts goaltending ain't too hot bro. Question mark there.

Now your talking! Paddock behind the bench is like watching paint dry. Boring. The man has no emotion. No is the time for Murray to come in and lay down the hammer. The players like Paddock, but it isn't working out to say the least.
As for your Leafs and being a fan...well it is one thing to be playing golf in the spring, but its another to be hitting the indoor driving range in February. I guess the good part is you will have some good game.
Tell Thor I say hello! All the best Pipsey!

| Sens fire Paddock. Murray now behind the bench. Murray's job could very well be on the line. He failed to rectify their goaltending situation. |

I think it is a good move...but we need to be honest, its the only move that they could make at this point. Trade deadline came and went. I am really starting to believe Emery is not good for the dressing room. Gerber was on fire back at the beginning of the season when Ray was nursing his hand. Murray has some serious decisions to make...go with Gerber who is an unproven playoff player or Razor who is a jerk but took the Sens to the final last year...
Wait and see I guess.

ps, you read it here first...and I HATE TO SAY IT, but the Leafs will make the playoffs...all the guys saying no on the no trade will bring them together...if they dont make it, they will only be a point or two out. Watch.
Damn that hurt to say!

DK,
I appreciate your new found confidence in the Leafs, but I don't think that they are going anywhere. Sure they have a lot of pressure off their backs now that the deadline is here and gone. But I think that the hole is too deep to crawl out of. I do hope that I am wrong, but I figure that the Leafs need to win 13 of their last 17 to even have a chance.
The Sens needed to get a goalie at the deadline, and they didn't. It is quite obvious that the Sens are not confident playing in front of either goalie.
And on top of that, I am sure that you are aware of Ray Emery's shannanigans. Talk to any one of your boys from O-town and they will tell you that Ray's idol is Grant Fuhr. (Not for his goaltending skills). Chris Neil and Emery almost fought in practice a few weeks ago. Alfie, Heater and Spezza have disappeared the last 10 games. They just better hope that they don't have to face the Pens in the first round.
P.S. Tell Moose that the Wings need Cleary, they are low on Newfie power. |
