So I work at an elementary school and I'm eligible for Article 20 of the tax code, which states that for the first two years of employment at an accredited institute (e.g. my school) I, as an American, am eligible for a tax refund.
The tax refund has gone through.
However, the school now wants to tax me (and the 2 other foreigners) 80,080krw each on a bonus of 2,200,000. They're following a standard tax sheet.
Is this legit? What have your experiences been? I called NTS and the guy there said he didn't think we had to pay taxes, but he's researching the issue and says he'll call me back. I'd just like some other input before the school screws me yet AGAIN.
Thanks! |
