Sea reptile is biggest on record
By Paul Rincon
Science reporter, BBC News
A fossilised "sea monster" unearthed on an Arctic island is the largest marine reptile known to science, Norwegian scientists have announced.
The 150 million-year-old specimen was found on Spitspergen, in the Arctic island chain of Svalbard, in 2006.
The Jurassic-era leviathan is one of 40 sea reptiles from a fossil "treasure trove" uncovered on the island.
Nicknamed "The Monster", the immense creature would have measured 15m (50ft) from nose to tail.
A large pliosaur was big enough to pick up a small car in its jaws and bite it in half
Richard Forrest, plesiosaur palaeontologist
And during the last field expedition, scientists discovered the remains of another so-called pliosaur which is thought to belong to the same species as The Monster - and may have been just as colossal.

But of course they didn't have cars in Jonah's day. |

Or pliosaurs either... |

The part I find most interesting is how the creature has friendly stomach acid that doesn't digest people.
Not. |

Perhaps you missed it:
"The 150 million-year-old specimen was found on Spitspergen"
There were no humans 150 million years ago. |

Well, that may be the prevalent view of science, but that's not the Vedic view - there have always been intelligent humans in at least some parts of the universe.
It might even be that most dinosaurs on earth were sea monsters when the earth was completely submerged in water ... |

I doubt Brontosaurus was a adept swimmer. |

Yeah but you know there are views based on evidence, views with real evidence to support them (say radiometric dating and fossil evidence) and then there are views based on a promise if you swallow x koolaid you'll get to heaven. |

One of the guys quoted, Richard Forrest, is a semi regular poster on a forum I used to particpate in. That guy really knows his stuff when it comes to ancient marine reptiles. It's funny how Creationists can just oh so easily discount all this expertise in favor of stories their Mummy and Daddy told them. |

The 150 M tag is no more than evolutionist conjecture.
To be discarded when we have solid written accounts of such sea monsters in the bible. or numerous accounts describing such creatures in ancient folklore worldwide. |

Theists' views on the dinosaurs and their evolution and divergence from archosaurs is specifically called for in this thread!

The very definition of conjecture is 'the formation or expression of an opinion or theory without sufficient evidence for proof'. You use conjecture to allege conjecture in others?
You should put your book of hate away and stop believing in and worshipping your celestial barbarian and instead read "Walking with Dinosaurs": The Evidence - How Did They Know That? by Dave Martill and Darren Naish.
To put it diplomatically and euphemistically, we cannot rely on the Bible for the truth because it contains demonstrable falsehoods

That's demonstrably false of Earth. Our evolution and divergence from chimpanzees can be shown to have occurred in the last 0.13% of Earth's history. |

There you go kids. Peer reviewed science is just a guess. But if it's written in a book of myth, then it must be true. You believe in hobbits and elves? |

Evolution fantasy (euphemistically tagged as "science") is indeed just a guess as you say.
Regardless of what their carbon dating methods have variously told them, they have basically rolled back dates for finds and rocks at will to fit their theory. you're talking plucking figures out of the hat and adding on a few noughts if it fits the imaginary jigsaw puzzle. Then altering the dates again by multibillions of years if they feel like.
Where is carbon dating in all this? well it tends to give wildly different dates for the same material, so evolutionists just keep testing until they randomly get an age that fits their preconcieved notion. Everything must be manipulated relentlessly to fit the theory. but i think U already knew that. |

"Justin Hale's" logic is off - or perhaps his reading comprehension - because I indicated that the Vedic view is that there has always been intelligent human life somewhere in the universe - but not necessarily always on Earth.
And even with regard to the Earth, there are disputed interpretations of the evidence (as "Junior" has pointed out ...) |

You should know by now that they don't use carbon dating to date rocks.
Get this kids, not only does he believe in myths but he just makes up non existent rock dating techniques and then claims they're applied wrong.
You can't grasp the basics of what you criticize. That's why a 6,000 year old world where humans and dinosaurs walked together makes perfect sense to you. |
