If they did a version of Bullsh!t, they'd be chased out of town with the first kimchi episode. |

There have been shows like that in the past, although not quite as caustic as Billshut. I know James Randi came here a few years ago and they did experiments on a variety of Koreans claiming to have psychic powers.
One exposee I'd like to see would be on all the Christian churches here that do the whole faith healing bit in the style of Peter Popoff. |

I saw that on TV with my wife. Took me half a second to recognize it as the Penn and Teller magic trick and half a second more to change channel in disgust. It's quite a famous trick because it caused quite a bit of a scandal amongst magicians when it was first performed. They had broken the 'code' by showing to their audience how they performed that trick. |

Is there a single magic trick out there that's totally original? I'm sure Penn and Teller got that trick from someone else. These little tricks are handed down through centuries without changing too much.
And if they reveal how it's done, why wouldn't other magicians do it? |

That's what I was thinking. Surely magicians just copy each others tricks. It's just the style and presentation that differs.
Although, I would guess, the top magicians put a lot of effort into taking basic trick techniques and reconfiguring them to create what looks like a new idea. |

I think as Penn says there is little honor among magicians. They copy each others tricks and claim they've improved it because their box is orange. |

These are not tricks, they are effects. At least that's what my magic teacher told me.
Penn and Teller are incredible, and though their Bullsh@t series takes on many topics, these guys are true students of magic. Teller is one of the best sleight of hand and close-up magicians in the world. |

According to the comments in the youtube page, it looks like Penn has been sending people to view it, and he approves of it. |

I like Penn and Teller. Teller's a great magician and Penn's a good fire eater and funny. (Though that cackle of his in the video was as annoying a a Korean girl's Appa whine.) I like what they do on Bull shit! But Penn loses all moral authority when he reveals tricks.

They don't do it all the time. They basically reveal two tricks. The cup and balls (the single oldest magical trick in the world) and the box trick in the video. Both are rather tired staples and I think Penn's view is magicians should get crackin' on new tricks. |

Anyone remember the Masked Magician Valentino who got sued for revealing lots of old magic secrets on FOX? His shows were great..at least for viewers.
If you are interested in checking out a talented Korean magician, here's one: Lee Eun-gyul(gyeol) (이은결). He won the first prize in general magic at FISM 2006 in Las Vegas. Lots of his vids on youtube. |
