I've used their programs. The flashcard program is good, I just wish there was a way to review using spaced repetition. Still, I really like it. I didn't use the "how to write the letters" program. I do use the grammar lessons.
I like them. Sometimes they can be a bit buggy, a characters won't stack up correctly. You can usually just press the space bar to get rid of the problem. |

Hey,
I used Declan's Software when I first came to Korea to learn. It's a great wee program and the flashcards are especially good for learning vocabulary. Thanks to that program I know all sorts of weird and wonderful words...I found the exercises worked quite well at hammering the words into my head so I didn't just forget them again. With the flashcards, you do about five different little exercises for each word, like English meaning from the Korean word, visa versa, match the words to the English, listening and writing.
The grammar program is a good introduction to Korean but no more than that. It's horrendously basic and after I finished it I was still nowhere near ready to hold a conversation.
Oh, and the dictionary isn't very good. The one I have in my cell phone is much better. However, the dictionary does allow you to make your own flashcard sets to practice using the flashcards program.
The whole lot is quite cheap, if my memory serves me well, and if you're looking for a good way to boost your vocabulary that's more interesting that staring at pages of words, then I'd recommend it. 17 months later, I still use the flashcards program to learn new words. However, if you're looking for something that's going to allow you to chat to people within the week, then perhaps something else would serve you better. |

I think the grammar program is best used to review or reinforce grammar you've learned in other ways. I would NEVER use just one thing (textbook, program, CD) as a learning system. |
