|
|
Hello,
Can you please give me your experiences with university interviews? What questions were asked? What questions did you have? I have some of my own questions of course, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything important. Thanks!

If you're getting hired for a job starting in March, then just look the part. Obviously a teacher bailed on them and they need a presentable teacher ASAP. Fill that role and you have a job.
While doing interviews for my school, many prospective teachers lost the jobs during the demonstration class portion. If there is a mock lesson, make sure you have some sort of game plan going in. And make full use of the white board. |

Tomorrow?
If they're hiring this late they only care if you're breathing, and they might even let that slide. |

Actually, my close friend's uncle is the VP of the college, and though reportedly they have filled all their positions, they are thinking of "creating" space for me to teach there. Who knows in this Krazy Kountry. Anyway, thanks for the heads-up on the lesson plan and demonstration. I did in fact prepare a 20-minute lesson (with extensions to 40 minutes if they are really interested in my teaching style) to present if asked. I have studied TESL but while the principles sunk in, the names did not. Were any of you grilled on famous contributors to the ESL world? Thanks again!

I'm assuming you may know what position they are trying to create for you.
At our school, some of the recent hires were good at selling them an idea. One lady sold them on her ability to teach Engineers, for example. Finding teachers who can teach subjects in English (other than just English) is currently the rage.
Find out what their button is, and push it. |

You might ask if they expect you to use any particular methodology. I personally prefer Constructivism....
BTW, remember that in Korea it's called EFL.
All the best to you! |

Thank for the replies, and no, it's not Inha (but close). I'm feeling pretty good about the whole breathing thing, although ironically enough I just got over a case of bronchitis. |
